There are some books that make all the endless searching through bookshelves, investigating different authors, and just generally spending time and effort into finding a good book worth it, and this is definitely one of them. Rick Yancey is a master with words, making even blood and gore sound beautiful and poetic. His characters are both complex and understandable, and Will Henry is one of my favorite protagonists of all time. I love the entire monstrumologist series, have read it many times over, and am wowed every single time. The curse of the wendigo is my favorite because of the development of the relationship between Will Henry and the doctor, and the plotline, which compared to the first book is not as cut-and-dry. I highly recommend this series, and this book in particular, to everyone looking for a story with just the right balance of darkness and beauty.

This book was also great- but neither book 2 or 3 are as thrilling as book one. That is not to say that book 3 was bad. It was an excellent read, superb language, and quite interesting as to the mystery behind the monster they travel across the world to find. One has to pity poor Will Henry for what he must endure at the hands of the Doctor- however, the Doctor does show glimpses of humanity in book 2 and in the book still more.

It's a shame more people don't know about this series. I am utterly obsessed. Yancey's writing style and vocabulary is amazing, and his character development is astounding. I'm quite jealous of it. Read this, read this, READ THIS!

I don't understand why this magnificent series isn't more popular when ridiculous, horribly written rubbish like the Twilight series flies off the shelves. This series blows me away with its beautiful writing, indepth characterizations and creeepy crawly plotlines. If you are a true reader, you will love this series.

This is the best so for in the series. Mr. Yancey did a great job of developing a deeper meaningful relationship between the monstrumologist and young Will(ie, father/son). Looking forward to the next book in the sereis.
