When Mabel suffers a head injury, she is stuck with only her thoughts. She begins to wonder if there is a hereafter and reflects on the type of person she has become, not at all happy with her conclusions. Lying there day after day, she begins a conversation with God that leads to a life change she never could have imagined.

This book is much different from any other Christian fiction book I've ever read. It's extremely imaginative, but also very down to earth and practical. It's easy to identify with the main character and to be drawn into her thoughts, fears, visions, and conversations with God as she lies in a coma, unable to communicate with the outside world. When she wakes up, she must once again deal with her dysfunctional family and her own flaws. That journey models what it is like to live well in the midst of difficult circumstances. I loved it and highly recommend it.
