Overview

Many people are trapped in their everyday lives nursing struggles that were brought on by the things they suffered. Thinking that's just the way life is, most people accept their discomforts as normal. They learn to live their lives around the elephants in the room. However, God revealed in Isaiah 61, that the Lord came to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free. I was one of those people, trapped by the insensitive and unkind words of my father, "As far as I know, she could be the "Milkman's Baby." That phrase, "Milkman's Baby" left me branded for years as I struggled for a place to belong. Two carelessly spoken words caused me fifty plus years of mental anguish that emotionally separated me from my mom. However, through God's strategic plan, He guided me from the valley of self pity where I wore a victim's cloak, to stand free at last, on the mountaintop.

Mary J Pickens is the wife of Kevin Pickens and the mother of four children, Miyoshi, Reggie, Brian and Jennifer, a mother-in-law and grandmother. Mary is retired and is now operating full time, as the founder and President, of a non profit organization for helping hurting people. Mary is a teacher that teaches from life's experiences. With a boldness that anoints her life she is able to reveal some of the darkness she has endured in order to help others. During speaking engagements the audiences have laughed and cried as God has shown them that His love is always the determining factor in success. The true joy comes when people say thank you for letting us look into the closets of your life to find the courage to allow God to clean out my cobwebs.
Many author have a long list of degrees and accomplishments listed on bios, and I applaud them for their deserved success. My list of accomplishments is short for my greatest reward has been learning to trust in Jesus in spite of life's hardships. It's not been easy getting back up again when life knocks you down, but if I am to declare that, "Yes, God Can," than I must be determined to let Him demonstrate it through me.

This book helps people who want to find peace of mind, tranquility and harmony. Its unique advantage is that it is based on the author's actual life experience.
