From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Comes a New Standalone Contemporary Romance.

My name is Lily Snow. And I was once the kind of ugly that turned heads and made people stare. The worst part was how I let it ruin my life and destroy my relationship with the love of my life-Maxwell Cole, one of the sexiest, wealthiest, enigmatic men on the planet. All because I felt ugly and certainly not good enough for a man's love.

But not anymore.

One car wreck, three reconstructive surgeries, and some unexpected money have changed my life.

I've started my own company, I've finally learned to like myself-not love, but like (hey, it's a journey)-and I've met a wonderful new man who's helped me put Max in the past where he belongs.

There's only one problem: After six long months, Maxwell Cole is back, asking for the one thing I can't give him. And he's not taking no for an answer.

NOTE: This is a continuation of the USA TODAY Bestseller FUGLY, but is a standalone.

Was surprised by the harsh reviews on this sequel. Yes it was a little repetitive, but that was needed for this to be a standalone. I enjoyed the ending to Lily's story. Was steamy and emotional and even funny at times. If you loved Fugly and fell in love with the characters, then this book is for you!

It's like we all have that ugly voice and it was powerful to see her overcome it

I understand the message conveyed in this book. I like it. This book continues Max and Lily's story. It ended very nicely. I'm glad the author chose this ending after the emotional roller coaster of this book. Reading the first book I didn't think that part 2 could get any wilder. I didn't care for all the vulgar language. There is also quite a lot of graphics. Simone 24

Same as Book 1.... Totally Awesome!! This series was the best read ever. This book picks up where Book 1 left off. It picks up with Lily, after her wreck. She was born ugly. She wrestles every day with what she does and doesn't deserve. Max and Patricio get into quite a few scuffles over Lily. This book had me wondering if Lily was going to pick one of them, or drop them both like a hot potato. And then add Max's mother into the mix. Max's mother is why he is so messed up. Just like the first book in this series, this one also has lots of ups and downs. It, also, had my emotions going all over the place. Everyone should read this series. It shows how people react to people with flaws, and what the one with flaws goes through dealing with it. I recommend this book to everyone.

Leave it to Mimi Jean Pamfiloff to take some heartrending moments and find humor in being human! Lily is in a love/hate relationship with herself where she has settled on a tremulous ceasefire. The love of her life destroyed her fragile self-acceptance and her belief in happy-ever-afters which led to drastic changes in both Lily and her life, including a hot Italian actor she just might be in love with. Lily has opened her own boutique, picking up the shattered pieces of her life and desperately trying to move forward, in spite of the potholes and detours, mostly of her own internal making. The emotional patch job she did on herself is about to be shredded to bits as Max, in all of his gorgeous glory comes back into her life, a man almost on his knees begging her to take him back, but Lily isn’t a sure thing anymore and Max is going to have to do more than stand there looking gorgeous, offering the best sex of her life if he is to have any chance of winning her back. Come on, the guy is used to having his looks and charm open doors (and other things)for him, so when Lily said no to even becoming his business partner, let alone his life partner, let’s just say, let the games begin! It’s a Fugly Life is so much more than another witty, humorous and hot look at romance and all of its trials and tribulations! Hidden beneath all the quirky situations, humor, self-flagellation and testosterone is a tale of self-acceptance and strength, change and true, if flawed love. Yes, really and I loved it! In true “Mimi” style, Ms. Pamfiloff makes human failings and hang-ups come to life with humor and heart! I absolutely love Lily, she is real, she is a mish-mash of humanity at its most vulnerable who puts on her big girl panties and struggles to learn to be who she is, what she is and take what she wants…of course, keeping those panties on gets a little tough and admitting what she wants isn’t so easy either! Face it, It’s a Fugly Life but everyone has a fascinating story to share! I received an ARC edition from Mimi Jean Pamfiloff in exchange for my honest review

First I have to say- I love Mimi's books! And this book is no exception. After I read Fugly, I could not wait to read the rest of Lily's story- I have to have a "happily ever after"! This book evoked so many emotions- joy, sadness, anger, frustration- and most of all, I felt Lily's self-doubt. I could relate to her feelings of inadequacy- her need to prove to the world she was worthy of happiness. Two people from two different worlds, both struggling with who they really are, allowing themselves to open up and take a risk- finally coming to the realization that all they truly need is each other. And that is a happily ever after indeed.

It’s a Fugly Life is book two in the Fugly series by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. All opinions expressed in this review are of my own and were not influenced by any outside sources. I fell in love with the first book of this series, Fugly, and with Max and Lily. I have been so excited for this continuation of their story. I think I might have loved this one even more than the first. It was sexy, sweet, funny and so much more. Have you ever had that inner voice that tells you that you aren’t pretty enough, or smart enough, or that you don’t deserve something? I know I have, a lot! Lily Snow was smart, had a killer body, a drive that helped her to achieve at what ever she did. But she was not pretty. People said she was ugly. Growing up it just made her work harder to achieve things. In book one of this series, we see how she and Max come together and get to know them and all of their challenges. The book has a shocking ending which our dear Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is famous for. So now in It’s a Fugly Life, we finally get to see how their story ends. Before I go on, I need to say that I am so in love with Max. Yes he has some serious flaws. But this man…well, I probably should stop there for now. “sigh” Lily is back in California and has opened her own boutique. She hasn’t heard from Max in six long months. She has accepted that they are over. She has begun dating Patricio, an Italian movie star. She is just feeling like her life is starting to be okay, that SHE will be okay. Until Max walks back in to her life, proclaiming his love, and proposing marriage. Where has he been for the last six months? Why hasn’t he contacted her? Lily is continually pulled back and forth between Max and Patricio. They have a long standing feud between them and she is right in the middle of it. As details emerge, Lily find out just what Max has been doing for the last few months and it made me fall in love with him even more. But still, he makes a few mistakes, yes, they are serious ones. But once you see what he was trying to do, well… Patricio and his family were pretty hilarious. And I seriously love Lily’s family. Her brother is crazy and her parents couldn’t be more dear. Lily is still plagued with that Fugly voice in her head, always right there to tell her no, that she wasn’t enough, will never be enough. Until she can conquer her own inner demons, does she really have a chance at happiness? Can she risk everything with a man that makes her want everything? Or should she accept something more comfortable, safer? I pretty much read this book in a day. I loved it that much. I couldn’t put it down. You really need to read Fugly first, so you can start at the beginning with Max and Lily. But now you won’t have to wait to see how their story ends. Buckle your seat belt and get ready for the crazy wild ride that is Lily Snow’s life. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Thank you Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, for another wonderful, sweet, funny book. These two will stay with me for a long time.

Definitely a book worth reading and recommending. Every one of us has a fugly voice inside that keeps us back from doing something or going for something that we want, saying that we are not good enough, or pretty enough, or what ever. And in this book author Mimi Jean manages through comedy (made me laugh out loud in a hospital's waiting room) and romance to explore a little bit about this side of everyone, this ugly side that manages to screw us up sometimes. This is the second book, the first one is Fugly, but it can be read as a stand alone, although I do recommend reading in order. It is told by both sides and manages to capture your attention all the way through! Lily, is now a single woman with her own shop, her own house, she is doing what she wants, she is her own woman!!!!!..... Se DOES NOT NEED NO Max to feel complete! She even has Patricio!!! And suddenly Max decides to enter her life… again…. After six months?????? With not one word and now he wants her back???? “Oh yes, that man had issues. Big, scary issues with fangs and wiry hair and an ice pick” Max hasn’t had it easy since the last time he saw Lily, but as always, he keeps everything near his chest, and hasn’t told Lili anything, he just assumes she is going to be waiting patiently for him. And in comes Patricio!!! The third wheel in this love triangle. The handsome Italian actor used to have his way and his women but that swears he is no longer a playboy. So Lily has some thinking and choosing to do on her own. We'll she choose one domineering guy that makes her lose control in all areas of her life, o will it be Patricio, the safe one, the more than friend one. “I felt a drop of wetness trickle down the side of my cheek, and it took a moment to realize it wasn’t my nervous sweat or emotional tears. It was him.” What I really like in this book, as I said earlier, is that we see the way we can sabotage ourselves and our happiness by listening to our insecurities, but once we conquer our fears and face ourselves, accepting who and what we are we can accomplish everything. What I didn't like in this book, is that from my point of view, Lily is a very strong opinionated and very intelligent woman, and throughout the book that was not the same woman from book one, she made some pretty stupid choices and decisions that I did not feel were akin to her personality. There is a love triangles, and I’m not really a love triangles kind of book gal, but it really is a good book.

Such an inspiring, and enthralling read. This look at Lily and Max's story is very real and brings you into a world that makes you think about that fugly voice in your head that makes you wonder at your own worth. Lily has overcome some of her past but is still a work in progress (aren't we all) watching her come to terms with the fact that she is not done growing was very interesting and makes me realize that as old as I am their is still growing that need to do as well. (and I need to reconcile my fugly voice and deal with it as well). A modern day Beauty and the Beast with a true to life twist.

What is Lily to do? All her life, men never looked at her twice... sometimes not even once! She was born with a face that did not match the beauty of the rest of her body and her independent soul. Now that circumstances ended up in her needing plastic surgery, her life has changed dramatically. Losing Max 6 months ago and knowing he would not forgive her, she does her best to put her life together again and move on. Now complications appear at every corner as she is debating whether to marry the hot Italian actor Patricio... and Max comes back for her with a serious proposal. Just as in Fugly, there are lessons to be learned about having a strong conviction in yourself. Outer beauty does not last. It is your strength of character that will guide you through life. The ugly inner voice that robs you of your determination and self-esteem has to be quieted once and for all. I enjoyed this series immensely. Our author's writing style is a delight to readers. Once again I found it very hard to put this book down.
