Ten animal-focused songs, performed by a variety of Canadian folk singers and musicians, comprise this upbeat picture book, which includes an accompanying audio CD. Tremblay’s flattened digital cartoons fit the humor of songs like “Twelve Kittens,” in which various unfortunate fates befall a dozen cats (“Oh, once I had ten kittens/ Then one day one drank some wine/ And that left me only nine”) and “I Love That Dog,” which Connie Kaldor sings as a jazz ballad, accompanied by saxophone riffs (and howling canines). It’s light, amusing fun for pet-loving, musically inclined families. Ages 3–5. (June)
