This book was OK, I remember loving this story as a child and I don't know it its the illustrations in this book but neither my daughter nor me liked it as much. We read a story every night, and I bought other titles from this collection after purchasing the Little Red Ridding Hood, which is awesome by the way. However, this title in particular is not one of our favorites.

The story of Jack and the Beanstalk is a variation of every dream every child in the world has - Have good luck and get rich quick. I loved this book as a kid and now my kid loves it as well, since it has sadness, then opportunity, then intrigue, then terror, and then finally achievement and happiness. All of the ingredients of a great story.

jack sells his cow for magic beans. the beans grow into a bean stock that reaches to the clouds. there is a giant that tries to eat him. the story ends well with the boy getting magical things from the giant
