Jaded by Ali Parker

Love is a Lie.

As a photographer for the New York Post, Kari Martin was used to seeing heartache and scandal up close. But one night at the club... her whole world changed.

Heartbroken and willing to call off her wedding, she decides a change is in order and moves from NYC to a small town in Maine, where the average age of the residents there is sixty (or thereabouts). She works to fit in perfectly, and tries like hell not to let anyone find out just how very jaded she's recently become over the lie called love.

Jake Isaac left Texas quite a few years ago; his heart torn from his chest, and his mind set on being a bachelor forever. Maine would welcome him, give him land to explore and a community to belong to. Getting a job as the coach of the local junior high and serving on the fire department kept him busy - and labeled him a hometown hero - but the truth of his damaged heart was forever hidden.

No one would ever know just how jaded he was about love. That is... until he meets Kari.

** 18+ Explicit sex scenes & foul language.

The beginning was slow with lots of redundent girl talk. I stopped reading at around 75 pages. Even as a free book i can not recommend it.

The first part of this book,up until the girls got to Maine, was written with way too many details. Just alot of rambling to me. I skimmed a lot of the first part of this book. That being said, the second half was just ok for me. The main charcters in this book "fell in love" in a week. Just really not a believable story. And the parts that were supposed to be hot and steamy, werent all that hot and steamy. Probably wont be reading the next book in this series unless its written differently than this one.

Had to force myself to finish it... waiting for something to happen. Well nothing did.

Made myself finish just because "I ain't no quitter". Lol

Lead female character is weak, she is constantly crying over nothing which is extremely irritating. That's the only aggravating part of this book. Its cute and cheesy, and that's ok because I literally had nothing else to do besides read.

I agree with some of the other reviews that the story doesn't make sense at times. There is quite a lot of time establishing the before the meet tIme. I feel like it's a bunch of short storys thrown together. The ending is abrupt. Not the greatest book.

Running... on and on....then just a slow sizzle every now and then. I have enjoyed other books by this author but this one , even with a hot man, not even warm.

Loved the story. Similarities abound. The characters are fun. Especially Lisa. Fiery and abrasive.

Blah, blah, blah. When you are reading and you mind continues to wander..... book is just not good. I gave up.

I liked the book. I did get tired of the main character's pitiful "I'm not worth" attitude. It seemed like just as the book was getting good, it ended. I found myself wanting to know what happened in Texas. If a continuation was written, I'd read it.

Kari has an amazing job in New York City as a Photographer for a well known newspaper , the two best friends in the world and is about to Marry the Man of her Dreams , but Betrayal and Heartache is about to Rock her Heavenly world off it's axis ...The night before her wedding ! Deciding to distance herself , she takes a job in a small town in Maine and tries to blend in with the locals ...trying to heal her Broken Heart. When love finds her again will she be able to let go and fall hard or will her Heart be shattered into a million pieces all over again ?? Jake moved to this small community to heal up a broken heart .Becoming a Coach at a junior high and serving on the fire dept. has helped him do that ..... ....until he meets one of his new Tenants ....Kari. Can Jake let go of his past , long enough to see if Kari can Heal his Damaged Heart ? This was a Sweet and Emotional second chance romance that had me routing for these two to get together and mend their broken souls . I loved Jake & Kari together , even though it took them a while to finally get up enough nerve to test the waters of a new relationship...I just wished Kari was a tad bit stronger than she was when Jake had to deal with a family issue , but I now understand why it played out the way it did . I enjoyed the sisterhood between Kari and her two best friends and the touching side scenes she has with people in the new town she moved into and loved to hate on the idiot that she was going to spend the rest of her life with .....Thank Heavens that didn't happen !!

This book makes me want to move to Maine and find my own Jake! How does Kari cope with seeing her fiance doing something wrong? She moves with her best friends from NYC to Maine, for a fresh start. A few years prior, Jake had walked in on something that he wishes would burn from his memories. He coped by moving from his family and friends in Texas to Maine. Both jaded still, will they take a chance? Especially when trust & confidence is an issue for both? This book is a standalone! However, there are two other books, which the characters are in. All three are standalone's! I have only read this one so far, but I'm going to get the second book now!

The first part of the book was very slow. Lots of intropective words where interactive dialog would have held attention. Forced myself to stay with it because I liked the concept. Nice story.
