Eight year-old Jaime Wilson sat on the grass waiting for her mother to pick her up from soccer practice. Some days she loved going to practice and other days, like today, she hated it.

"Why is it that all the other kids always seem to know what to do and I don't," she thought to herself as she ran her fingers along the stitching of the soccer ball she held in her lap.

Looking up, Jaime saw her mother's car pull into the parking lot. She grabbed her soccer bag and ran to the car. Jaime was sure that her mother would know something was wrong but she didn't want to talk about it right now. As she jumped into the front seat and fastened her seatbelt, Jaime looked at her mother, folded her arms and announced, "I hate soccer and I don't want to talk about it!"

"Are you hurt?'

"Did something happen at practice to upset you, Jaime?"

"I don't want to talk about it. Can we go now please?"

Mrs. Wilson wanted to give Jaime a big hug and tell her that everything was going to be O.K., but she knew that Jaime was too angry right now, so she just said, "Sure," and drove home.

When it was time for bed, Mrs. Wilson sat down next to Jaime, gave her a big hug and said, "Do you want to tell me why you were so angry after practice today?"

Jaime started to cry and said, "I just can't do anything right. I dribbled the ball all the way down the field today and kicked a goal."

"Well that's wonderful, Jaime! Why are you upset?"

"You don't understand," Jaime said crying harder. "When I got the ball, I was so excited I just started running down the field. I ran the wrong way and scored a goal for the other team. Everyone on my team was yelling at me and the other team was laughing at me."
