Fourteen year old Claire and her mother drove across the country to go visit her grandmother. Claire's mind is filled with questions and thoughts. Why didn't her mother ever talk about her father? Why did her mom leave her parents at an early life? When Clair and her mother arrived at her grandmother's house, Claire jumped out of the car and ran to give her grandma a hug, but not her mother. Jain popped the trunk and got her luggage at of the back. Claire¿s grandmother shows her around the house and then asks if she wants to go take a look up town. Claire asked her mom if she wanted to go but she didn¿t really answer. While up town Claire and her Grandma are looking around and Claire sees her mom just looking at this man. Claire knows there is something about that. Claire finds out that that guy is her father. All her life Claire has dreamed of meeting her father. Claire then realizes that families all have secrets, and real-life relationships can be more complicated than they really seem. I really enjoyed this book. I love how I could see how this could happen to any fourteen year-old out there. And how it would be very hard for them to deal with. I think this booked picked up really good in the beginning to the end. It told the setting, the characters, and the event that was happening. I think this is a really good book that anyone would enjoy.

This book was very well writtened. I may be just a kid but this book can teach you a lesson that you may never expect what is coming. Your own mother can be keeping secrets from you about a father that you may never have met. It is a very good book.

I like this book because it is like REAL LIFE and I like to read mostly about REAL LIFE stuff. I think this book was OUTSTANDING because I enjoyed reading it. I liked all the characters, the settings, and the plots. I would read this book atleast 10 times before I get bored of it. I like Janey's Girl alot!

This book is on the list for 4-8th graders for the PACIFIC NW YOUNG READERS CHOICE AWARD. While I find this a good book, and happy ending, it most certainly is not for 4th, 5th, or 6th graders. My nine yr. old came home with this and I refused to let her read it. The explicit material is too heavy for these young elementary 'Kid's'. If you are a concerned parent, please review this book yourself before letting your kids check it out.
