The second of two CDs recorded at a concert held by the Atlanta Jazz Society in 1970 has the second half of a performance featuring the great cornetist Wild Bill Davison with a sextet of fine local musicians. Best-known among the latter is Ernie Carson, who during this half plays second cornet on seven of the nine numbers, switching to piano for a pair of ballads. The interplay between Wild Bill and Carson (for whom Davison was always a strong influence) is generally quite exciting, resulting in plenty of heated playing. Trombonist Wray Thomas and clarinetist Herman Foretich also get in some fine solos. Highlights of this recommended Dixieland date include "Jazz Me Blues," "I Found a New Baby," "Fidgety Feet" and "That's a Plenty."
