I've been playing guitar for decades, dabbling in blues, pop, folk, rockabiliy, classical and 'new age'. I had a good grasp of jazz chords but was yet unable to make ground into the art of jazz soloing. Previous purchases of VHS tapes and books yielded only encyclopediac lists of licks or they jumped ahead too fast, or they were too vague. This book filled the gap: chord substitutions and scale substitutions at a level that got me off the ground. No lists of licks. No vague 'just use the scale or use the chord'. 2 Concrete tips with an annotated example has made this purchase more than worthwhile and I a highly recommend it for someone in my position. BM
