The book provides a great perspective since the narrating voices belong to Jefferson's sons with Sally Hemings when they were little. It spares the immediate judgmental aspect and provides a fresh look at what life might have been in the Jefferson's household.

This book was excellent, I loved how you were able to get a glimpse of the lives of slaves and the complications they deal with despite the luck they have not having to work in the fields. The book was magnificently written and a great read for everyone ages 12 and up.

To the author: How can you perpetuate the unfounded lie by creating a "historical novel" and pollute the minds of the young readers??? They are now going to grow up and parrot this groundless myth. Did you not go to the primary sources in your research which included the retraction of the finding of the DNA testing, however discreetly it was released? I suppose that's what the Founding Fathers and Thomas Jefferson fought for, risking their lives & their sacred honor - for YOUR right to say whatever you want to say...
