Delizioso! Mama mia! Laury Egan delivers an abbondanza of delights in Jenny Kidd. It’s a literary mystery rich in details of Venetian art, cuisine and history. It’s an erotic mystery that will have you tingling. And it’s a lesbian mystery that bristles with self-discovery and self-doubt. Full of (knife) twists and (vaporetto) turns throughout, Egan’s Jenny Kidd had me fingering quickly through the ebook edition even as Jenny Kidd won my heart. What a lavish reading experience! Favoloso!

A Venetian Mystery “Jenny Kidd captures the reader’s attention and maintains the suspense as Jenny struggles with developing her artistic career in another country away from her overbearing father, living in a different culture, and adapting to increasingly strange circumstances and people. Ms. Egan has created a character who is innocent and somewhat naïve, yet one who demonstrates inner strength and courage when she becomes entangled in a mysterious murder. Overall, the plot is quickly paced, but not at the expense of character development. I highly recommend this book.”—R. E. Stagg

Laury Egan's novel Jenny Kidd is, just that, a real trip; for the eponymous central character: literally, artistically, metaphorically, and emotionally. By turns an artful depiction of Venice seen through an artist's eyes, a well-crafted mystery of murder and art forgery, Jenny's enticement into a world of old Venetian aristocracy, her growing sensual attraction to Caterina Barbon - evolving to a torrid, erotic involvement with her, then devolving to a twisted and sinister affaire macabre with Caterina and her Janus-faced brother Sebastiano - and finally the emotional arousal, disillusionment, and resurrection of Jenny's individual personhood. --R.D. Jenny Kidd Is No Kidding Good! Jenny Kidd is a coming-of-age, sexual awakening, artistic validation and success, murder mystery, and masquerade adventure. Although a character-driven smorgasbord, its main character is eminently likable, the plot moves quickly, and the Venetian setting is glorious.
