Can a message in a bottle lead to a happily ever after?

Bestselling thriller author Jenny Hanford never expects anything to happen the night she whimsically throws her requirements for true love into the ocean. Thirteen months later, however, she hears back from the man who found her bottle.

Exchanging carefree emails and texts with Dare makes Jenny smile and fills her days with anticipation. She doesn't know much about him, but his humor and kindness keep her replying. Flirting long-distance is fun and safe, but she can't deny her growing affection for her online friend.

When she discovers Dare is a soldier who has been injured in the line of duty, she's given the opportunity to visit him. Jenny wants to go, but she's afraid he'll turn out to be as make believe as the characters she creates. What are the odds Dare could be her real dream hero?

I love the premise of this series! Anonymous book club friends finally meet and have a girls' getaway, come up with a crazy plan to find (or not find) their true loves by sending out a message in a bottle. Random? Sure. Crazy? Most definitely but is signing up on a dating service any less dicey? Nope. It's very cool that our heroine Jenny is a novelist and a very independent woman. She'd like a special man in her life but doesn't "need" one and really doesn't expect her bottle to find anyone much less a man that will appeal to her or that is even looking for their soulmate. Besides, she's already got the perfect man...the hero from her bestselling thriller novels. As a hero, Dare is just dreamy...being a military man just makes him that much more so IMO. He finds the bottle and while he's not looking for love (he's been burned in the worst way possible) he responds...mainly because his CO "dares" him to. What follows is the start of a great friendship. The back and forth emails and text messages were very clever and had me giggling. I loved that Ms. McClone referenced a very popular 80s song to highlight Jenny's great sense of humor. When they finally meet? Well, you'll just have to read it to find out. It's not a typical scenario but why would it be? It started with message in bottle. Risky sure but worth it. My only issue is that I wish it was longer. It didn't have an epilogue so I would've loved to see what happened next. The extra characters were a perfect addition, one or two of them needing either their own story or at least and update on their lives. I've read only two books of the 12 books in the series...some have yet to release but I will be adding them all to my library. I look forward to reading more from Ms. McClone. I love her writing style and her character development.

Melissa McClone's Jenny Jenny is a member the Romantic Hearts Book Club. This club is a group of twelve women who formed an online book club. They decide to meet in person on a Caribbean Isle. They dared each other to write a note to their dream hero which gets put in each one's own empty wine bottle, corked then thrown into the sea!!! Only Jenny doesn't have a wine bottle. She buys a curio bottle and reluctantly writes a note. Jenny is only going to pretend to throw the bottle instead just let it fall back into her beach bag. But the bottle gets slippery from the lotion in her bag. It manages to escape her hand falling into the sea. Returning home Jenny faces the emotional conflict of loss and grief after the service related death of her brother plus the loss of faith and trust in men after her gambling heartless ex-fiancé was really after the proceeds from her being Jenna Hart, the author. Jenny has taken her sister-in-law into her home. Jenny has become a non-adventurous homebody author. Darragh " Dare " O'Rouke who is an Army Ranger finds the bottle while on leave in Key West. Eventually an email friendship develops between Jenny and Dare. Then Dare is hurt in action. He asks for Jenny. Will she fly to the hospital where he is being treated? They have never meet so this could end up being a very awkward situation. They actually don't know each other very well. Will Jenny be adventurous and fly away into the unknown or just stay in her comfortable home and stay in touch by email? Be ready to be swept away into a creatively written story with well defined characters in an unique situation. Marvelously written, mesmerizing story, you will want to read. There are twelve books and twelve authors included in this Beach Brides Series. Each book can be read as a stand alone. I volunteered to read an Advanced Readers Copy. Thanks to the author for the opportunity. My opinion is my own.
