God is forever writing our story, and He gives us the dignity of being able to introduce characters that occasionally wrinkle the plot. Often we fear that we've permanently changed the trajectory of what might have been if we'd only been more obedient or pious. He smiles at this. He alone knows how many pages He has left before He needs to bring resolve, and He knows that it's going to be okay.
Jesus Killed My Church is the story of a church plant that should have gone gangbusters yet managed to go bust, and a church planter who learned that the only measure of success is recognizing the leadership of Jesus as perfect. Randy Bohlender relays his lessons learned in a humorous way that drives home a point - that God has a plan even when ours fall apart.

Randy is a wonderful tour guide as he takes us through his adult experiences of serving the Lord, being an example of how we, in our finite broken ways, focuses on performance and "doing" with a specific sense of Godliness and success. Our God is so much more than we realize that He does work all out for good and that our only mission is to seek Him and let Him provide, nurture, heal and grow us into our destinies that He ordained for us. Randy has journeyed through much farther than myself and many whom would receive much from this book, as it illustrates God's heartbeat and Kingdom ways. Ways that relieve us from many of the pressures and expectations we put on ourselves to earn all we need and desire. If only we will lean on, press toward and position ourselves to spend time with and experience God Himself. Simply put God is surprising and bigger and better in answering our prayers than we can imagine and they don't come all wrapped up the way we want them.
Jesus Killed My Church By: Randy Bohlender A Unique Title for an Amazing Adventure in Church Planting “Jesus Killed My Church” is an honest candid look into the intervention of Jesus in the leadership and plans of man. A story of unexpected plot (life) twists including, pitfalls, triumphs, defeats, and successes that lead to an unexpected conclusion which is just the beginning of an ongoing story of following Jesus and allowing Him to take charge. Randy communicates much of his story using a dry humor that exhibits a direct, open, and honest look into his humanity and humility. With his wife Kelsey and a band of volunteers Randy was led through a modern day adventure of testing, similar to that of Moses and the Israelites throughout their wilderness journey. The pages are filled with experiences resulting from prayer, fasting, and spiritual battles, including an encounter similar to Elijah’s in the Old Testament account of calling on God for rain when challenging the prophets of Baal. The prophets of The Burning Man organization were Randy’s challenge when he and four companions faced them in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada in a spiritual battle that ended with headlines in USA Today that read “Thousands Leave Burning Man Because Of Rain.” Randy’s writing is compelling and engaging, heartwarming, and challenging. “Jesus Killed My Church” is an important book for every Christian, with special insights for the pastor planning on planting a church.
