What's to review. I use TurboTax, but sometimes I need to research a point that consumer-level software doesn't address.

Speaking as a professional whether you are a professional or a knowledgable taxpayer this book is a great resource. Non-professionals don't get in over your heads. If you don't understand the law seek professional help.

I always get the Lasser Book each year. After doing the basics with Turbo Tax, I go back and review the J K Lasser Book. It always reminds me of one or more deductions.

I buy J.K.Lasser's Income Tax Guide every year. It is always complete and accurate (as of the date of its publication); you can go to their web site JKLasser.com to pick up any later updates and you can sign up for alerts to be sent to your email for any updates. The Tax Guide covers not only the basic and most common tax situations, but also the most unusual cases. It gives examples for all of the situations, usually one or two per page, that really help in understanding how to prepare your Federal tax return. There is no better tax preparation guide on the market.

I do my own taxes because I do not trust others. This dates from the days when I did Exec. Compensation for a large computer company. This book seems to be the most comprehensive and easy to understand.
