About the Author

Douglas Brinkley is director of the Eisenhower Center for American Studies and professor of history at the University of New Orleans. He is the author of several books, including Dean Acheson: The Cold War Years and The Unfinished Presidency: Jimmy Carter’s Journey Beyond the White House.

Richard T. Griffiths is professor of modern European history at Leiden University, The Netherlands, and editor of Socialist Parties and the Question of Europe in the 1950s.

Theodore Sorensen served as special counsel to President John F. Kennedy and was his principal speechwriter. He is author of several books, including Decision-Making in the White House and Kennedy.
