Conn is coming along as a writer. Unlike a lot of today's Western writers his heros don't kill the bad guys with a single shot right between the eyes and they don't travel a hundred miles overnight. More realistic than most. Includes enough factual history to keep the history buffs like me interested. The bad guys are of course entirely fictional he doesn't turn true historical figures either good or bad into something they were not. Looking forward to number three.

Wow! This is a must read. It picks up where book one left off. Mr. Hamlett has, again, that makes you laugh, wince, laugh some more, and wish you had book 3 on your bedside table before you read the last page. JLJ is the man of everyone's dreams.

I like it when there is plenty of action, the good guy is good, the bad guys are bad and the good guy wins, most of the time. In the case of JLJ, the bad guys don't have a chance. I have read both of Conn's books and enjoyed the dialogue and "no nonsense" lingo as much as the action. In addition, I learn something of the ole west as I travel with JLJ. Why bury a mean, dead hombre when you can feed pigs? Why not clean out the pockets of dead men who meant you harm, sell their horses, saddles, etc and share the money with someone in need who has done you a good deed. I like the main character, the action and most of all, the dialogue; looking forward to book three.
