This is a fun little book confidently striding some kind of border between pulp fiction and fantasy science fiction. It has all the elements of pulp: booze, detective, police chief not happy with said PI, dames. It also has a slew of alien participants: Ptsaurians, Ruskans, etc. The writing is confident and breezy, with some great analogies. The author hits the marks with precision while avoiding tiredness. Too sexually graphic in a couple of places that drops the quality a level lower. A few surprises and the unsatisfying ending also mar what is a very strong and enjoyable read.
It's a very little known book, however it is one of the most amusing books I've read. It combines sci-fi, disco, monsters with a half detective story. I recommend this book.
