Sanderlin blurs the lines between fiction and nonfiction as artistically as Claude Monet's 'Water Lilies.' While fiction writers create characters, nonfiction writers reveal a real person's character as honestly and accurately as possible. Sanderlin's characters are so beleivable you may never be able to release them from your memory, or your heart. This book is engaging, well written and can easily be enjoyed by everyone from young adults to grandparents. I enjoyed it a great deal and am glad that I purchased it... the story takes place in a different era, but the characters are confronted by issues and situations that are relevant even today. I especially think that this is a great story for children and young adults who are dealing with loss or other family issues... to help them understand that life does go on and that sometimes everything really does work out for the best.
