Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Lena Shaban
Book eight in the twelve book "Conspiracy 365" series; it is no sweet sixteen for Callum Ormond—his life is a far cry from that of many ordinary readers, making for a well-rounded character. Cal is attempting to unravel the Ormond Singularity papers his late father left behind, which sets off this wild year, which leads to his own unraveling. Cal does not know that he has an unmarked grave ready for him in the Infinity Gardens. Readers become aware of the time ticking off of Cal's life when the hour is given throughout the each chapter. Here is a teen fiction narrative designed to enthrall. Separated from the coveted Jewel and Riddle, Cal hears nothing and sees nothing. Minute after minute, hour after hour, Cal lingers somewhere between life and death. In a days' time, Cal is transported to a different place, but feels no different. He does not know whether to laugh or cry. The mix-up continues when Gabbi, Cal's younger sister, disappears. Cal makes no progress with Senior Sergeant Dorian McGrath, a detective, on her whereabouts. Cal's alarm for his sick sister translates into a muddle of confusion where it is hard to know who is fooling who. It seems Cal is set up. Will anyone believe him? The suspenseful, short sentences may attract younger readers, who will enjoy reading about a slightly older character. Reviewer: Lena Shaban
Children's Literature - Greta Holt
Cal Ormond is running again. He crashes his great-uncle's special plane and almost burns to death. Kelvin and Sumo, Orianna's henchmen, are after him. It is they who have killed Cal's great-uncle as they pursue the Ormond Jewel. After the crash, Cal narrowly escapes them. He finds a store which has an old computer and he emails his friend Boges for help. Since January when his search started, Cal has gained at least some information in his quest for answers about the Ormond Singularity. Each of Lord's books takes readers closer to December's final answers. Cal, Boges, Repro, and the beautiful Winter, whose guardian Sligo may have stolen the artifact, try to recover the jewel. Cal retrieves a flash drive that his father left him before his death. The flash drive contains pictures of his father looking at castles in Ireland. Cal discovers that the Ormond Singularity, whatever it may be, requires an heir who must not die until before he is sixteen years of age. There is a mysterious ancestor, Black Tom Butler, as well as the Riddle, the Jewel, the drawings, and the Singularity itself. Homeless and on the run, Cal continues to search for answers and love Winter from afar, even as he mistrusts her. Action dominates the story line. Reviewer: Greta Holt

Excellent series! My son started reading it and asked me to read it with him.  He can't put the books down.  This is a great book for children between the ages of 11-14.
