Someone should have warned me about falling in love with my best friend.

Little did I know when Rex came to my locker attempting to bribe me, that he'd turn into my everything.
We'd become best friends. I'd steal his heart. He'd steal mine.
Nothing has changed in the years of our friendship.
Not our connection, not our feelings, or that we still hold each other's hearts.
But his heart isn't the only thing I've kept.
The secret I'm hiding could shatter the only man I've ever loved.

I've loved Carolina since the day she called my bluff.
Our friendship always came first.
She believed in me when no one else did.
I tucked away my feelings because I couldn't survive a life without her.
We crossed the line once, and I swore it'd never happen again.
As time passes, the harder it becomes to live up to that promise.
Until finally, there's no holding back.

232 pages of best friends since they were in high school, that slowly, over time, turns feelings of friendship to love. It was a great story, that had a nice twist to it with best friends turn lovers. You have conflict, steamy loving, secrets, humor, an of course visits from characters from privous books in this series. Highly recommend whole series!****

RATING: 4.5/5 Not having read any other works by the author before, I didn’t know what to expect before reading Just Friends. Needless to say I was impressed with story and I cannot wait to read read the rest of the Blue Beech series. As the preacher’s daughter, Carolina Adams grew up being the golden child in her family. She was obedient and always followed the rules. So it was no surprise that her goal in high school was to become class valedictorian while staying out of any guy’s attention. But that didn’t last long until Rex Lane came into her life. Everyone loves him, he is cocky, popular and not Carolina’s type. Yet, he keeps wanting to be around her. They eventually became friends and he became really overprotective of her. Then everything changed when they crossed the line that could ruin their friendship. College was supposed to be a new beginning, but that’s when their lives truly changed forever. They’ll have to face new obstacles if they want a future together. Rex Lane has it all, his family is considered the most affluent in the small town of Blue Beech, Iowa and he also happens to be the mayor’s son. With so much at his disposal, Rex loves to spend time in the computer programming lab and playing video games. But what he loves the most is a challenge and after meeting Carolina, he is set on teaching her to have a good time. Neither of them expected to become friends, but they became tighter over the years. He knows everything about her and will do anything to protect her. Yet, it’s when she needs his help to be her plus one at her cousin’s wedding, he agrees to go as her boyfriend. Little did they know that their lives were about to change the minute he agrees to keep pretending. Lines will get blurred once again and this time hearts will be broken in the end. He’ll have to decide if pursuing a relationship with Carolina is worth it or not. I loved this story! There were so many twists and turns to the book that I did not see coming at all. The author did a great job maintaining the character relatable and swoon worthy! Rex is the prefect book boyfriend as well as main character, he is fun and cocky. He is also overly smart and overprotective. I liked the fact that he stands by Carolina’s side through tick and thin, he will protect her until the very end and that makes their friendship so much stronger. On the other hand, Carolina is smart and she is trying to be a good daughter. But it’s later mistakes that completely change her dynamic with her family and those around her. Rex is her rock and she will do anything for him. But thing change the minute they decide to just feel and not look back. Although the ending is sweet, I wish the author could have added a few more details at the end. Nonetheless, it still worked in the story and it makes me want to read the rest of the series. I would highly recommend check it out, it’s a definite must-read! :) **I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**

I adored this friends to lovers romance! I devoured this Blue Beech series in January and was so excited to read about Rex and Carolina. This book had all the feels, the humor I am loving from this author, and it is a fun read. A seriousness that I found myself anxious to read more about and a perfect ending!

Such a swoon worthy read! Wendy for Janise’s Jivin’ Book Blog I have read several books in this series and love each one more than the last. Rex and Carolina are fun wrapped in a little mystery. I like that we get interaction from the characters in previous books but these can easily be read as standalones too. I loved that Rex is the guy that everyone loves to be around. He is smart and good looking and he befriends the quiet girl who isn’t popular and doesn’t care what people think. Always look forward to another great read by Charity Ferrell.

I loved these two characters and the friendship they have that turns into something more. I loved watching these two navigate through their feelings. Rex is an amazing friend and will be an even better partner in a relationship. Carolina is sweet and funny and her heart has always belonged to Rex. I realize that this is book 6 in this series and would love to go back and read the other books. The other characters were wonderful and I need to read how this series started. You don’t need to read them however to read this book. Definitely a must read. This book had a bit of it all: love, angst, sadness, fear but it was done perfectly and made for a great read!

I'm in a complete book hangover after finishing Just Friends. Just Friends begins in a walk down the history of Rex and Carolina's amazing friendship. It starts off with Rex asking Carolina to write a paper for him, one he can clearly write himself. He's a smart kid, right behind her in academic standing, but he just doesn't want to. She doesn't take his crap and he doesn't take no for an answer and thus begins their lifelong friendship. Their friendship is one to hold in complete adoration. They are there for each other, ride or die, no matter what as the years go on. Even though Rex claims he can't do relationships, he's basically been in one with her since their friendship began. His greatest fear is losing Carolina, so taking that final step into something deeper is something he doesn't want to do given his parents relationship is dysfunctional. Carolina knows Rex better than anyone and visa versa. When a fake date goes further than they planned, pandora's box has been opened, they find feelings unleashed and closing that lid once again impossible. It's hard to go back and be just friends when they both know they are more and always have been. Charity Ferrell once again wrote an amazing story filled with lots of love and heart.

Friends to lovers is not a romance trope that I read regularly. With a few exceptions, I usually end up liking the couple better as friends than as lovers. Just Friends is one of those exceptions. Rex and Carolina are absolutely adorable together, and from their first interaction, I just felt like they were meant to be together. I loved Rex's fierce protection of Carolina just as much as I loved the way she calls him on his crap. Carolina does have a secret, and I will say that I didn't feel like it was as big a relationship dealbreaker as I thought it would be, but I can understand her worries given her background. Like the rest of this terrific series, this one is full of witty banter, steamy fun, and plenty of feels. This one is interconnected with other couples in the series, but it still stands on its own. I will add that once you've met any of these characters, you'll want more of them. Each Blue Beech couple has been a wonderful combination of fun and feels, and Rex and Carolina are one more reason this is a must-read series.
