Just One Kiss (Fool's Gold Series #10) by Susan Mallery

He won't hesitate to put his life on the line…but will he ever risk his heart?

Falling for Justice Garrett was a high point in Patience McGraw's otherwise awkward adolescence. Even after he disappeared, Patience never forgot the boy who captured her heart. Now he's back in Fool's Gold, California, and her passion for him is as strong as ever. But how can she trust that he won't abandon her again—and her daughter, too?

When bodyguard Justice Garrett was a young man, witness protection brought him to this idyllic town and he never forgot its warmth, or the sweet beauty of his childhood friend. He's returned to open a defense academy, and the Patience he once knew is all grown up. He can't resist her smile, or her curves. But Justice's past doesn't make him husband, or father, material.

Patience and Justice think they'll succumb to just one kiss… Then one more… Okay, just one night together. But they might learn that falling in love is beyond anyone's control.

Just finished reading Just One Kiss and enjoyed every word. Justice (isn't that a great name) and Patience were childhood friends and one was not telling the truth! Years later, the friends get to know each other in a totally different and grown-up way. The book is part of a series but you can read it as a stand-alone book also. But if you read it as a stand alone, you will want to go back and read the earlier books and wait for the next book in the series. Enjoy!

Such a sweet book. I have loved Fool's Gold since book 1, but this story was exceptionally touching. It combines the single mom finding love, with reconnecting with your first love. If you haven't read it, I would highly recommend it!

Enjoyed reading Just One Kiss. Fool's Gold is an interesting place to live. Justice had to leave when he was a teenager but of course, he had to come back to see the girl that he had a crush on. Justice and Patience meet up again and resolve the past in many different ways. It is part of a series and like Justice, you will want to come back to Fool's Gold to renew your friendship with the characters.

Justice and Patience were best friends in high school until the day Justice disappeared. Years later with fond memeories of Fool's Gold he returns to locate his new business there. One again he discovers Patience and her daughter living there. Despite Justice's reservations about his ability to be a good husband, love finds a way to prevail. Another heartwarming story from Fool's Gold by Susan Mallery, an author not to be missed.

I'm a big fan of Susan Mallery's work and always look forward to summertime when we get to visit the folks in Fool's Gold again.  How she keeps it fresh each year is beyond me but as usual she does not disappoint.  Storyline is great and the fact that she helps shed light on how MS (Multiple Sclerosis) affects people but yet does not have to define them just ads to the whole plot.  Thanks again for a great read Ms. Mallery.

I thoroughly enjoy the Fool's Gold Series. Each book makes me want to pack up my belongings and move there just to watch the action and maybe give some of these reluctant characters a nudge in the right direction. Every book I've read (and I've read every one in the series) leaves me anticipating the next book release; I buy it quick, read it (sometimes even while waiting at stop lights) and am disappointed when its finished. I hope Susan Mallery NEVER runs out of Fool's Gold characters. Thank you Susan.

Wish I could find Fool's Gold... I would move there in a minute!! This is a wonderful series about real people and their stories are beautifully written by Ms. Mallery... The characters are wonderfully developed and the story line, while unique, is always well done and has enough twists and turns to keep you reading... Hate to put her books down and always hate for them to end... Highly recommend anything Ms. Mallery writes... Think I have read anything and everything to date... Read and enjoy!!!

I just finished Just One Kiss, loved it. I haven't read all the of the Fool's Gold books yet and was pleased that it didn't take away from the story. I loved Patience's and Justice's story and can't wait to read the next one.

As usual, the characters of Fool's Gold welcomed me back with open arms. We get to watch as Patience and Justice reunite after his abrupt and mysterious disappearance when they were kids. Once again, Ms. Susan brings you right into the heart of the story. This book, to me, more so than any of the others in the series, had me turning pages to get to the end, but trying to slow down so I could savor it until the next book comes out.

Another Fool’s Gold winner from Susan Mallery! Patience McGraw fits in Fool’s Gold, Calif., a closeknit community where neighbors watch out for each other and life moves fairly smoothly — except for that time 15 years before when her best friend and first crush disappears in the middle of the night. Now, however, Justice Garrett is back — with answers about why he left and why he’s returned. And both Patience and Justice have to figure out what to do about the sparks that still remain between them. As always, Mallery pulls us into the fabric of Fool’s Gold. We want to hang out at Jo’s Bar, participate in a work party and rustle up a casserole for a friend’s freezer. If you haven’t read any of the Fool’s Gold series, “Just One Kiss” is a great one to start — and you’ll be ready for the next two installments later this summer. Don’t be surprised, though, when you decide to go back to the beginning to spend time with characters you’ll meet.

Always love returning to Fool's Gold. It is like returning home!! I love the relationship between Patience & Justice. I love how that Susan has a character with MS. Susan is teaching us how it is to be strong to live with MS, but still be able to do things. I have a daughter with a disease that is not well known so I love to learn about different diseases.

Just One Kiss is another show stopper from Susan Mallery. Patience fell in love with Justice when she was just 14 but over the years and time apart she was convinced it had been just a crush. Then Justice came back to Fools Gold and Patience found out that true love never dies. This is a delightful story and again I feel like I’ve made new friends. Susan has an amazing way of bringing her characters to life and now I’m sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see what happens next in Fools Gold.

Another great Fool's Gold series book. This is Patience and Justice's story. They fell in love as kids but Justice disappeared without explanation. Years later he returns. Patience is now a single mom and Justice is opening CDS Bodyguard School. They reconnect and their love reignites but they must overcome the secrets that tore them apart. Absolutely love these stories.

Reviewed by Aubrey Book provided by NetGalley for review Review originally posted at Romancing the Book I have read every single Fool’s Gold novel as soon as they came out. I adored Just One Kiss and was not disappointed in the latest addition to Fool’s Gold series. We meet Patience a single mother who hasn’t dated since her divorce. She does not know that her heart was taken by Justice, 15 years ago until he returns to town. Justice is the tough guy who can’t get over the fact his father was a hateful and ruthless killer. He is strong and caring. The fact that he is caring is a character trait that he has to get used to to. All the characters in Susan Mallery’s fictional town are very nice and wholesome. I’m always jealous of the friendships they women share and how helpful the town is. The town always seems like a town from the past where the neighbors look out for each other. I love how Mallery threw in a bit of suspense at the end. I felt sorry for Justice with all his internal conflict. I hoped he came to his senses in the end. I loved how intense the passion and the love Patience and Justice had for each other. Their love scenes were very hot. I cannot wait for the next novel!

Justice and Patience met when they were in high school and became very good friends until the day he disappeared. Patience was heartbroken-she had just realized that she really liked him for more than a friend and he was gone. It's many years and a broken marriage and daughter for her when Justice returns to Fool's Gold. The deep feelings are still there for both of them but Justice fears he carries within him the evil that was in his father. He is afraid to love Patience as deeply as he does for fear he will hurt her and her daughter, Lillie. But, he cannot stay away from her, much as he tries plus, he is taken by the exuberant Lillie. This is another great Fool's Gold story of love and friendship not to be missed.
