To say the novel is heart-wrenching and emotional is just scraping the surface. The feels go deep, the angst is intense, and the tears were multiple, both from sorrow and pain as well as from joy and jubilee. To say I sobbed through the book is an exaggeration but not by much. Bailey Rossum and Josh Scott hadn't had the easiest start in life, but they had had each other. In the most amazing, finding your soulmate kind of way that will blow you away and steep deeply into your heart. Until they didn't. Until things went wrong in the worst moment in the worst kind of way. And even though they both had managed to succeed in their lives, to be successful in their careers, it might have been, cause all their energy and efforts were focused on the task at hand to avoid the feelings churning in their souls and core beings. The energy, connection, chemistry between Bailey and Josh is something amazing and tangible and adorable all at the same time. The attraction they have for each other is a palpable force, and they are helpless to avoid it now that the connection between them is established again. And the love scenes these two create, are off the chart smoking hot. The challenge they face is the secrets from their past. Can they overcome everything they left behind and is there enough room in their hearts and minds for the understanding and forgiveness needed to move forward? I loved the road, the struggle they faced but mostly how the handled it. I loved both Josh and Bailey, how they saw each other and how honest they were with each other. The half spoon dropped - from my opinion - cause there was some third person drama involved that continued after the first love scene between Josh and Bailey. Was it physical, not really - a kiss - but it bothered me as it was first mentioned, it bothered me when it continued, and then when it was ignored after all the turbulence started in the hospital, I wondered why, oh why was it mentioned in the first place. I know, this is me and my silly hard limits, but this is my opinion so... The chaos created by unraveling secrets and the mayhem it caused in the protagonists' lives took me for an emotional road with angst and passionate adoration as the main vehicles riding down the curvy path... A journey that I am thankful I was able to experience, not only because of the lovely visit with my friends in Harper’s Crossing but because of both Josh and Bailey deserved to find peace, redemption, and most of all, love into their lives. ~ Four Spoons with a teaspoon on the side

Just one night is such a great read. Talk about second chances. I loved the dynamic between Josh and Bailey. They had to go through the struggles of life to find their new normal. The story telling is awesome and the characters are well thought out. I loved how characters from previous books in the series show up. Awesome 5 star read!

Hooray for Melanie and Shawna coming back to the Crossroads Series! This is a series that I could literally read forever so I hope that new characters just keep popping up who need a magical HEA. Bailey and Josh have been in love since they were teenagers. They have never stopped loving each other but life, as it often does, pushes them in different directions until on fateful night when Bailey’s car breaks down and Josh, being the gentleman that he is, picks her up. This chance encounter might be just what these two need to relight the flame that has never really gone out between them. This was a really beautiful book about second chances and the reality of making tough life decisions and most importantly doing the best you can every day. I loved Bailey and Josh and you will two. Their love story will pull on your heart strings. This will be a book that you finish quickly but stays with you for many days after you read the last page.

I'm just so glad that there are more Crossroads books being written!! This series is just so good, so it's hard to keep building on a series for so long and still keep it new and exciting. But they definitely did it!!! I was hooked right from the beginning and finished it all in one night. Josh and Bailey are just so easy to connect with right from the start. Sometimes I am unsure of the stories where a big secret is kept, but this one was written so well and the story just flowed. It had the right amount of romance, tears and laughing. I really enjoyed this!!!

Oh man, Oh man, Oh man! Loved this story. Josh and Bailey are what true love stories are about. Josh was just driving down the road when he spotted a car broken down. As he got closer he realized whose car it was and seeing her walking further down the road only made his stomach knot up. The one and only woman he has ever loved was walking in the dark in a ballgown, carrying her shoes. The one woman he had a past with but no future with. After being stranded on the side of the road in her ballgown, walking to the fundraiser was the only way she was going to make it on time. Never would she thought that the one man she didn’t want to see would be the one rescuing her. Getting on the back of Josh’s bike felt way too familiar to Bailey and way to good. But what she and Josh had was in the past and no neither of them has even talked to the other in over 8 years. What happens when Bailey gets to the fundraiser and doesn’t have her ID to get into the fundraiser because she left it on Josh’s bike? Josh brings back her ID of course, but how can he resist helping her yet again when she still can’t be part of the fundraiser because her partner dumped her, and she must have a partner to be part of the event. As much as Josh does not want to help Bailey, she has always had this pull on him. He never could resist her. What starts out as just helping for one 24-hour period turns into a need that they both thought they were over needing. The love they thought was past them is in full force. Can they both overcome their hurt and past mistakes to have a loving future together or will their past leave them both wanting a love that is no longer possible? This was such a great read. Never wanted to put the book down. Beautiful story.

WOW!!! Oh WOW!! Josh and Bailey’s story in Just One Night was definitely lucky thirteen in the Crossroads series by the amazing duo of Melanie Shawn. Pediatric surgeon Bailey Rossum returned to Harper’s Crossing six years ago. Since being avoided and snubbed by Josh Scott, her high school love, there was no opportunity to talk to him and explain why she cut ties with him eighteen years ago. Now it was the night of big fund raiser for the hospital and Bailey found herself walking barefoot in a ball gown after being stood up and having her pickup truck break down. It was as if her life had turned into a bad country song. As luck would have it, coming to her rescue was Josh, looking sexier than ever, riding his motorcycle. Bailey knew she needed to accept his help, even if it could lead to him breaking her heart, once again. Josh knew the right thing to do was to give Bailey a lift, even if helping her would cause additional harm to his already shattered heart. These two were amazing and perfect for each other; they fit together. They had off the charts chemistry and before these two can have the present and future, Josh and Bailey must face and confront their past. Before coming clean to Josh, Bailey’s secret unknowingly appears in Harper’s Crossing. After all these years, Josh and Bailey still love one another and hopefully they can get over the past and aim for a future together. Melanie Shawn wrote a wonderfully emotional and moving story filled with sexual chemistry, fun dialogue, and endearing characters that is not to be missed. I highly recommend this book to other readers and am looking forward to reading the next story in the Crossroads series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

So hard to put into words what an amazing story this was, it went to places that surprised me. It was a very emotional, funny, sexy and heart wrenching book. This is the story of Bailey and Josh. Bailey was such a strong character and in her own words self aware enough to realize when she was disconnecting, pretty powerful words that hit home. Josh was strong enough to know that he needed to stay away and he stayed away for 16 years, 16 years ! including the 6 years 2 months, 5 days and 7 hours that she had been back in town not that he was counting. The dialogue between was Josh and Bailey was quick and a bit sarcastic but some of the ones that I enjoyed the most were with the supporting characters, the conversation between Becca and Bailey in the bathroom and the twilight references were so funny; and the ones between Brian and Josh were quite good. As with other books in the series the authors offer these small connections between stories and characters which is so fun. But then, the climax of it all, when Bailey performs surgery, the discovery and the full circle of it all had me in tears (with my hand covering my mouth in shock, cause this surprised the heck out of me). It was a very emotional chapter. Family may not always be what you pictured it to be, but it can be exactly what you need.

Loved this sweetly sexy, fun, witty and engaging second chance romance filled with love and laughter. It is such a touching and emotional journey that captures the reader and does not let go... Highly recommended reading.

I loved Josh and Bailey's story. This is a year jerking, second chance novel. Bailey has a secret, which has her avoiding her ex Josh. She can't risk him finding out the truth. So when she breaks down, the last person she needs help from is him. But when she finds herself in a bit of a pickle and Josh offers to help, she finds she can't say no to him. Bailey is the only girl that Josh has ever loved, even after she walked away from him 19 years ago. so when he sees her at the side of the road, he can't just leave her there, but it doesn't mean he has to speak to her. Their story is as Heartbreaking, as it is beautiful and will have you in tears.

I’ve had the day to think and stew about how to write this review, and the first thing I want to say is tissues. I suggest lots and lots of tissues if you are an emotional reader. I may have just had an emotional day when I was reading it, but wow! I fell in love with Josh and Bailey. While Josh tried to resist, their chemistry was off the charts and it was only a matter of time before they were falling back in love. There were a few twists and turns in the story that had me crying happy tears for multiple characters. I don’t want to give much away, but this story was beautifully written and will have you smiling through the tears that may fall. A phenomenal must read that I would guarantee!!

Honest review for free ARC. Josh and Bailey’s story goes back almost 20 years. As young teens, they fell in love. Bailey was a genius and went off to college at 16. Although Josh knew Bailey was pregnant, he thought she had aborted the baby before leaving for school. What Bailey hadn’t told Josh was that she carried they baby to term and gave her daughter up for adoption. Bailey cut off all ties with Josh because her love for him was so great, but the burden of the secret was too much. Almost decades later, Josh and Bailey are back in the same home town. Josh is respected business man who runs the local auto shop. Bailey is a gifted pediatric surgeon. Josh is unable to talk to Bailey because she hurt him so deeply before, yet one night, Josh is riding his motorcycle down the road and discovers Bailey’s old truck on the side of the road. It’s obviously broken down. A bit further down the road, Josh sees Bailey walking along barefoot in a ballgown. She is going to a dance marathon to earn money in donations for the hospital, but her “date” just informed her he’s not coming because his wife just told him she’s pregnant. Now Bailey has no dance partner to help her secure the money for the hospital. Josh is willing to help her out, but refuses to talk to Bailey. They will dance together for 24 hours, but there will be no chitchat. As the dance progresses, Josh softens up a tad and there is some breakthrough in their relationship. The story is deep and emotional with some great twists and turns. I enjoyed the rekindling of their love along with the forgiveness they were willing to bestow upon each other and others in their lives. Thanks for the ARC and the great read!

Wow! This book was amazing. I was wondering what the secret was that Bailey was hiding from Josh but I was not expecting the bombshell that she dropped. I love how everything came full circle for the two of them and although they were separated for many years, they were finally able to let all of the secrets out and find their happily ever after. I can't wait for the next book!

**I voluntarily read a copy of this title in exchange for an honest review** I've loved the Crossroads series since the beginning and Just One Night was an awesome addition to this already great stable of stories. Bailey Rossum has had a rough day. She's a pediatric surgeon and she has just lost a patient, so she jumped in her grandpa's truck to go for a drive to make herself feel better. Unfortunately, Buford, her truck decided he wasn't up to the task and broke down on the side of the road. Knowing she had to get to the hospital fundraiser, she sets out on foot to make the 5 mile walk to the country club. While driving down the road, Josh Scott sees a woman walking on the side of the road, and he's certainly not the kind of man to not stop to help. When he realizes who the woman is, the only woman he's ever loved, Bailey, he knows he still needs to stop to help even though he's done everything he can to avoid her since she came back to town over 6 years ago. She was the one he thought he would spend forever with and she broke his heart years before. He still hasn't gotten over her. When Josh realizes that Bailey needs an assist past the ride to the fundraiser, he steps up, although with reservations. As the two begin to connect, they still feel the pull from years ago even though decades have passed since they were together. Will they be able to reconnect and at the very least be friends? Or is the love they felt still alive and well. This book was so much more than the synopsis I gave you above, but you need to let it unfold without my giving you anything further. I was so drawn in by these two characters and I was rooting for them the entire time. Their chemistry was off the charts and it was so clear that they belonged together, but lack of communication, secrets and miscommunication led them to where they are now. The story was incredibly realistic and I felt like I was living it right along with the characters. Kudos to Melanie Shawn for another fantastic book in this series. I can't wait for the next one!
