Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James

New York Times bestselling author Julie James’s debut novel—a dazzling romance about one of Hollywood's biggest movie stars and the woman who refuses to let him capture her heart...

Jason Andrews is used to having women fall at his feet. When Taylor Donovan gives him the cold shoulder, he’s thrown for a loop. Even Though I like my romantic novel with a minimum of an R rating, this had to be the only PG Romantic novel I've ever enjoyed. I couldn't put this book down. I have her upcoming novel down on my calendar.

The only people who can get inside to Taylor is her beloved parents, who sacrificed so much for her to be come a lawyer she vows to never let them down.----------------- Her firm Gray & Dallas sent her to Los Angeles to litigate a sexual harassment case. Her temporary L.A. boss Sam Blakely asks her to do him a favor as the best litigator in the firm. He wants her to train People magazine's 'Sexiest Man Alive' Jason Andrews for his role as a lawyer in a film. Sam also warns her not to go starry eyed over the hunk she learned from childhood that ¿There¿s no crying in baseball¿ (A League of their Own) or in life. When they meet Jason turns on the charm, but strikes out as Taylor rejects his seductive endeavors. The more she refuses him, the more he wants her. As each begins to fall in love, two buried gentler souls surface.---------------- This engaging mixing of Hollywood and litigation is a fun enjoyable contemporary romance. The lead couple is a strong casting of individuals who at first seem so different yet as the audience get to know both of them, they share much the same attitude on life. Although the plot is somewhat limited fans will relish this superb relationship drama starring a pair of ¿drop-outs¿.---------- Harriet Klausner

## I have to say, i liked "practice makes perfect" and "a lot like love" a lot better than this book. Don't get me wrong, this book is well written and highly entertaining. The heroine was awesome. The dialogue was witty and there are many laugh out loud moments. The only thing i didnt like about it (hence the four stars instead of five), was the hero. And that is a biggie for me. He was so arrogant that it bordered on rediculous. And what a complete man-slut. At one point he even points out that he has "done" four (4) of the Laker girls. It was really off-putting. I feel the author went overboard on his character. It's hard to believe the smart, beautiful heroine would fall for him. I think i would've liked her to kick this guy to the curb. But the rest was amazing.

Review as seen on Book Binge.

I'm a sucker for those flirty heroes that are cocky and arrogant. You know, the kind of heroes that are bewildered when the heroine's don't fall into a puddle of lust at the sight of them. I love seeing them humbled. I loved seeing them so full of themselves in the beginning and then watching as they slowly come to realize that they're not as great as they think they are. I love seeing them come full circle and wooing their heroines into loving them anyway.

This book was great. It was a fast and funny read and I'm seriously wanting to read another Julie James book. It took me no time at all to read this book and I was sad to finish the story and say goodbye to the characters. They became real to me and I enjoyed getting to know them.

This book is about Jason Andrews and Taylor Donovan. Jason is this big hot shot celebrity actor, think Brad Pitt, a Multiple People's Magazine's Sexiest Man Alive and he pretty much got everything that he ever wanted. Women dropped their panties for him at the snap of a finger and people jumped to do his bidding every time he so much as glanced at them. He had that kind of power over people, the celebrity kind of power and he was so used to it that he didn't bother to think about what other people thought, it simply was and he enjoyed the power he had over people.

Taylor Donovan, on the other hand is a rising star in the law world. She was one of the top lawyers from her firm and she was sent to L.A. from Chicago to help with a big sexual harassment case and she takes her job very seriously. Even if she's forced to take a job she doesn't want, no matter who the job is for.

She doesn't give two flits about Jason Andrews and even though she thinks he's insanely attractive, she doesn't see what the big deal about him is, she vows to treat him as anyone else. She was going to treat him like she treats all of her other clients, only he stands her up at their first appointment and then stands her up again for their second appointment. She had cleared her schedule for him and he didn't even have the decency to call her and let her know he couldn't make it. He just left her hanging and so she did what any other woman would do.

She got good and pissed. She was so livid with him that when he finally did decide to come in and see her, she didn't care who the hell he was or anything, she was too busy for him.

That first meeting between Jason and Taylor was the best frickin' meeting ever. I thought it was hilarious and I loved the way that Taylor handled it. She totally had me crackin' up and then grinning like a fool, she was frickin' awesome. The way that she kept putting him in his place always had me laughing my ass off.

The characters were great, the dialogue was easy to follow along with and the plot all made for a really fast and a really fun read. I really enjoyed reading this book, I would really recommend this book to those of you who are looking for a light and entertaining read. This book delivers the laughs, the emotions and a romance that had you cheering the main characters on.

Jason and Taylor were a fantastic couple and I enjoyed getting to know them and watch them bump along the road to their happy ending, this was just one great book that let me escape into the lives of the rich and famous for a few hours and I absolutely will be reading more Julie James books.

A well-written, thoroughly enjoyable chick-lit romance! “I realized that the one person who could break my heart is the only one who should have it.” Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James is an immensely entertaining contemporary romance. It’s a stand-alone and a lighter read than the author’s FBI/US Attorney series. I’ve actually had the audio on my phone for months – and finally hit play over the weekend. OMG, what took me so long? It’s a charming romantic comedy and a perfect escape or beach read - exactly what I needed at the time! I listened to some of it while walking a local bridge and feared that someone would report me as deranged because I giggled and/or laughed out loud too any times to count and I might have also shouted yes a few times. This is the story of Jason Andrews, an actor deemed to be the “Sexiest Man Alive” by People magazine, and Taylor Donovan, a labor attorney. Just the Sexiest Man Alive is an adversaries-to-lovers old-fashioned romance with a measured relationship build-up. It is not an insta-love tale. The characters have a lot of chemistry and their storyline is addictive. There’s even a deplorable villain. Taylor is a focused woman when she arrives in L.A. from Chicago. She has her sights set on becoming a full partner in her law firm – and the EEOC suit she is litigating is to be a crucial steppingstone to her goal. I liked that Taylor is portrayed as a powerful, independent, smart, professional woman who has worked her way up the ladder with no funny business. Jason is preparing for a legal role in a movie and uses his powerful connections to obtain the services of the best attorney available at the law firm to coach him to his best possible performance. Taylor’s firm nominates her for the role – she isn’t happy about not being able to focus on her case nor at having to cater to a spoiled Hollywood star. In the beginning, I didn’t care for Jason. He was to put it simply: full of himself and a womanizer. Suffice it to say that Taylor wasn’t impressed with Jason’s celebrity stature nor did she take crap from anyone. I would cheer Taylor as she would effortlessly put him in his place with her quick wit and their snarky banter – much to Jason’s surprise. However, it wasn’t long before he started to grow on me to where, by the end, I was in love. I’ve read that this book was Karen White’s first romance narration. You would never know it from her polished performance as it was stellar. Both her male and female voices sound genuine. She differentiates between the characters to where I always knew who was speaking. Her pacing is perfect and she exudes the proper emotions with finesse. Karen is one of my very favorite narrators. I’ve loved everything I’ve picked up that she’s narrated and Just the Sexiest Man Alive is no exception. Her voicing definitely added to my enjoyment of this audio. The ending is warm, satisfying, flashy and a bit cheesy – but I’m not complaining. I’d listen to this audio again and my fondest wish is that this story would be made into a movie. If you are looking for a well-written, thoroughly enjoyable chick-lit romance with great character interactions including lots of hilarious moments, I’d highly encourage you to check out Just the Sexiest Man Alive too. Another addicting book, when it comes to Julie James, she will not disappoint! Taylor Donovan, sexual harassment lawyer has moved to LA from Chicago for a $30 million trial that she is in charge of. Taylor loves her job and knows she good at it, she doesn't let people see her emotional side. Her second language is sarcasm and she uses it often! Taylor has been asked to go over a script for Hollywood actor Jason Andrews. Jason thinks the sun and moon rises with him and Taylor is not at all impressed. He is about to be taken down a level by one strong woman with lots of smarts and sass. Jason Andrews is Hollywoods "Sexiest Man Alive" and is used to getting his way, never being told NO and discarding women like a card game. Jason is amazed that Taylor isn't falling at his feet and makes her dislike of him obvious. He is attracted to her and sets out to make her it admit that she's really attracted to him as well. His plan of making her jealous backfires and she ends up dating another HOT Hollywood actor. These two actors can't stand one another and a "pissing" game ensues. Taylor learns over time that Jason isn't has bad as she once thought, without the camera's and all the hoopla associated with Hollywood, he's a nice guy. She can't let her heart get involved, she got burned once by a good looking cheater and survived it but she doubts she would this time. Jason finds out the hard way that Taylor doesn't trust him, he offers her his heart, will she take it and give him hers as well?
