Kalkin is a fast paced, suspenseful PNR that will keep you flipping pages. Keeley and her sister Dani are gifted humans on the run who find themselves moving in across the street from an alpha wolf shifter (Kalkin) and his extended family. Kalkin has given up on finding his mate and is flabbergasted at finding that the new girl in town (Keeley) is his mate but she comes with baggage that may just kill them all. I can’t wait to see how Calder digs himself out of the hole he has created with Dani.
Michele Ryan is a new author for me. I wanted to read this story as I have a severe soft spot for shifter novels especially wolf shifters and Kalkin didn’t disappoint! From the very first scene I was hooked and while there were a few slow spots in the storyline, it didn’t take away from the overall fast-paced action. I love the paranormal elements that were woven into the story. The special abilities that both Dani and Keeley poses are well thought out. Kalkin and Keeley’s relationship is hot, possessive, protective, loving, and explosive. I loved the scenes when Kalkin’s Alpha comes out to play. The pack, including his brothers and nephews, were all likable characters. For me, the only downfall of the story was some of the language. Some of the dialogue seemed immature for the age of the characters. The rough language and continuous swear words weren’t needed in my opinion.
