Katie McCullough doesn’t know it, but Max Sawyer, the over confident, irritatingly handsome hotel developer who outbid her for the lighthouse property, is none other, than her mystery lighthouse sailor. The one man who captured her heart five years earlier, the one man who has since been the plumb line for every other unsuspecting male who has crossed her path. Unfortunately for Max, he doesn’t measure up either.

Still reeling from losing the property she’d planned to call home, sparks fly when Katie assumes Max is turning her beloved lighthouse compound into one of his ‘Serenity Spa Resorts.” Outraged, Katie sets out on a mission to dismantle the property…and his plans.

Except Max’s plans have absolutely nothing to do with hotels and everything to do with winning Katie’s heart.

If you like sweet clean romance stories, then you will certainly be pleased with Keeper Of My Heart! I really liked it and couldn’t put it down, as I read it straight through from beginning to end in one day! It’s a lighthearted endearing read, perfect for a day at the beach or a lazy day relaxing at home with a “good” book. Set in a small Maryland fishing village on the Chesapeake Bay, the author, Darcy Flynn, eloquently sets the stage of the quaint seaside village with it’s salty air, charming cottage homes and closely knit, cheerful residents. As delightful as this love story was it was not without literary aptitude, which would be one of the reasons why I couldn‘t put it down. Another thing that kept me engaged and turning the page was the fact that the characters were well written and evolved naturally. Their personalities, interactions, and unexpected experiences were interesting and kept my attention well. I love excellent writing and Darcy Flynn has proved to me that she is just that-an excellent writer! I never like to give away or talk about the storyline too much in my reviews because I want the readers to have their own reactions to the plot and theme, as well as, the activities of the characters in the book. But, I will say this, I laughed a lot and felt peaceful while reading it, and perhaps a little inspired as the author describes the beautiful settings and develops the romance between the two main characters, Katie and Max. I loved Katie’s personality. She’s fun and real and a bit of a rebel. Max on the other hand is controlled, amusing and, of course, handsome. The tension between them, as they fall in love, is plentiful but certainly not irksome, as seen in many run-of-the-mill romance novels. Set in America’s quaint Eastern Seaboard, Keeper of my Heart is a short, quick read. It’s a romantic story and a refreshing dip of warmth and fun; with memorable characters and a lasting love story, it’s sure to make you smile!

Reviewed by Joy H. for Readers Favorite Max Sawyer meets the young girl who steals his heart, his best friend’s sister. The kiss would never be forgotten, and he knows her by the letters she wrote. Max restores old historical buildings making them into resorts, and he has just purchased an old historical lighthouse to turn into a hotel, or so Katie thinks. Max takes extreme measures to try and get Katie’s attention, but nothing seems to work. Katie McCullough still has her mystery lighthouse sailor, even though they have never met, except for the kiss, which was given at a time when it was to dark to see what he looked like. Nor did she know his name, but he had her heart. And of course there are the letters they have been writing to each other. Katie has sacrificed everything she has in order to purchase the lighthouse to restore it into a home for her and her Pop. She is fuming that this stranger Max, whoever he is, outbid her, and the tricks she throws his way are unbelievable. She goes to extremes to make Max pay for how he hurt her. Darcy Flynn pens a really good, light, easy, short romance for her readers to enjoy. The spunky, feisty, brat Katie, who is determined to get her way, will have you frustrated one minute and laughing the next. I really enjoyed the treatment she received from Max, almost as much as Max himself enjoyed it! Ms. Flynn does a wonderful job of keeping your attention enough to want to finish her book. Sometimes you just want a nice fast-and-light read to enjoy, and this is the perfect book. It only takes a few hours to read, and you will certainly be entertained by the clever writing by Ms. Flynn in “Keeper of my Heart.”

First, You will love this book!! It was that good. The storyline was refreshing, it was a lovely tale proving once again that love triumphs despite obstacles along the way. If you are looking for a hot passionate romance book, you won't find it in this but what you will find is a sweet romantic story of two people finding their way to one another.. You will be delighted in the bantering between Katie and Max, you may even find yourself chuckling out loud a time or two. Max sometimes may have come across pompous, but Katie had a tendency to do "over the top" things. The author created some great secondary characters which added to the depth of Katie and Max. Ms. Flynn brought to life a realistic fishing town and within a few short pages, you felt that you were a resident in the quaint town of Paige Point. The love that Katie has for Pop is sweet, it made me think of my own grandfather and what I would do for him if he asked. It was cute to find that love can still happen even in your twilight years.

Set around a beautiful old lighthouse, we are introduced to strong-willed and opinionated Katie McCullough who has spent the last two years restoring our scene. She hopes to one day buy it for herself and her “Pops.” Just as she tastes the fruits of her determination, as her uncontested bid is to be announced, fate sucker punches her and when it turns an unknown thief has swooped in the last minutes to steal her light house. Max Sawyer, a former naval officer now a developer, makes his mark by transforming historic places into lavishly exclusive spas has come back to ask Katie for forgiveness for a past indiscretion. Realizing Max was her thief Kate rages a hilarious war. I thoroughly enjoyed this book because it was light and fun. Darcy Flynn did an amazing job describing her scenes, though I wish there had been more to a few of the scenes themselves. That notwithstanding, for being a shorter book I couldn’t put it down. I loved the romance between Max and Katie with kisses and simple affection, rather than the reliance upon more carnal scenes found in most romance novels.
