She dreamed of a very different life...

Laura Bainbridge has spent her entire life on tiny Turtle Island, but she dreams of a Season in London and a presentation to Queen Victoria. Can a handsome Irish stranger with a golden tongue and a disturbing past change her heart and convince her to stay?

As Cathal's memory slowly returns, both he and Laura must come to grips with his painful past...and fight for a future free of hatred and loss.

I am so thrilled to have had the privilege to receive an ARC of Cynthia Owens's book from Highland Press. I loved her first book DECEPTIVE HEARTS! Her second book, in The WILD GEESE Series, is titled KEEPER OF THE LIGHT. Again, I got captivated by her Irish historical romance, she has done it again, she has me hooked to her series. . I loved her two main characters Cathal Donnelly, an Irish rebel and Laura Bainbridge, a British young lady. Cathal was one of those Wild Geese, Irish young men, forced to leave Ireland for the armies of America. Laura lived on the tiny Turtle Island, on the New Brunswick coast, with her father who was the lighthouse keeper. Cathal was washed ashore after haven survived at sea during a terrible storm, but bruised and with no recollection of his past. While walking near the shore, Laura discovers this mysterious man and rescues him. With the help of her father, she will nurse him back to health and try to help him to remember his past. They will start to live a beautiful friendship and trust each other. Slowly, he will remember souvenirs of his past, his family and his mission in life. As time goes by, Cathal and Laura will fall in love; but Laura's dream was a Season in London and a presentation to the Queen. As Cathal's memory comes back, he starts to get confused about his true mission and the love he has for Laura. What will happen to these young lovers? Which one will leave Turtle Island, Laura or Cathal? Will their love survive? You will need to read their beautiful story to get all the details. Her other characters from her first book, come back for a short visit during this lovely suspense. . I can't wait to read her third book in The Wild Geese Series. Ms. Owens is an author that pulls me into her story and I can't put it down. It's fast-paced, very well written and a breathtaking Irish romance! Ms. Owens is a high quality writer that needs to be known! Let yourself be carried away by her strong characters and fascinating story filled with tenderness and passion!
