This book is a very basic overview of how to play Texas Hold 'Em. It is obviously intended for the novice player, and as such it serves it's purpose well. The author freely admits that he has never won any major events, and his skill seems to lie in explaining the basic points of the game. I was disappointed that there was not more information on betting strategy, but I can say the information that was presented was easy to understand. Don't bother with this book if you are an advanced player or have read other books on poker.

I thought this book was a good solid purchase. It was full of useful information to the beginning hold em' player. There are probably some things in the book for the advanced hold em' player as well. I am now going through it for the second time trying to catch anything I missed. Again, very solid strategy and tactics for learning to play hold em'

The book does offer some good insights but does a poor job explaining position and stating hands. Those two aspects are probably the most important to a beginning player. Great advice on raising, overcalls and buying cards.

While it was well written and gives a good base for the people just starting out at Texas Holdem', it does not go into any in depth strategy. Everything I read I already knew explicitly or intuitively. While it was nice to see what I already knew validated, it shoul defintitley be stressed that this is a beginner's guide.

This was my first Hold 'EM book ever. It was a great guide into the world of Hold 'EM. Every page was full of useful information. I can't count the number of times I was excited to put my new skills to the test. I can't wait to study it again
