Overview

Kentucky Dreaming by Clint McCullough

KENTUCKY DREAMING is the story of a fourteen-year-old girl who flees the Eastern Kentucky coal mine wars in 1932 and establishes a Bluegrass dynasty. Set against the backdrop of the Thoroughbred racing and breeding industry, KENTUCKY DREAMING spans nearly six decades of love and heartbreak, failure and triumph, tragedy and the fulfillment of a lifetime dream. Maripat Albright-a dynamic little redhead, literally goes from rags to riches as she struggles against insurmountable odds to save Albright Stud and mediate the growing conflict between her two sons. The first Kentucky Derby in 1875 and Secretariat wining the same race in 1973 are vividly described with famous names and race tracks in the U.S. and England interspersed throughout the book. The fictional characters are as diverse as the real racing figures who built the famous Bluegrass horse farms surrounding Lexington, Kentucky. From beginning to end, KENTUCKY DREAMING will grip your imagination and make you a part of an unforgettable story.

About the Author

Clint McCullough has enjoyed successful careers as an advertising and public relations agency owner in the San Francisco Bay Area, business consultant, building contractor, white-water rafting guide and a "generally footloose existence." After gambling in Reno and Las Vegas for years, he wrote NEVADA with the goal of writing an exciting historical novel about the 20th century growth of gaming in that state and getting back some of the money he lost. NEVADA was a bestseller in the U.S. and U.K. in 1987. Look for the sequel-NEVADA LEGACY-in 2012. McCullough offers editorial services, website and book cover design and marketing advice at www.clindale.com. NEVADA is also available in a full-size (6"x9") paperback revised edition on the website and Amazon.com.
