I found this book so very helpful wish i had something like this 3 years ago. the book give a much better understand of acid reflex and all of the other complication. The author is very through and suggest that diet with medications can help or eventually eliminate the problem. All of the responsibility in on YOU. Eventually the goal is to be medication free and learn to eat those foods that are right and healthy to maintain good health.

This is a must read for everybody! I work in the ENT and Speech field for over 10 years and crossed path with Dr. Aviv several times. He is the best in his field and I just recommended a friend who suffers from constant cough and lump-like sensation in her throat to go and see him.  His approach to raise awareness of acid reflux and its connection to esophageal cancer in  “Killing Me Softly From Inside” is incredibly well-written and there is no medical degree necessary to understand his message. In addition he “prescribes” food instead of any heavy medication! I grew up with fresh food and a well balanced diet without the restriction of any macronutrients and was raised with the believe that a healthy life style is possible for everybody. I am very happy to finally read about a diet which relates to this. In addition Dr. Aviv describes that the way of preparing food is the key to change their natural acidity to a safe pH level. The Acid Watcher® Diet should be followed by anybody, no matter if you are a person who suffers from Acid Reflux or not. Forget about all this nonsense “no-carb”, “low-fat” diets! Thanks Dr. Aviv for sharing your knowledge by publishing this book! And hopefully in the future it will be available in more languages to distribute your message worldwide!

This is an excellent layman's book describing the action that takes place with acid reflux. The author has clear lists of the acidity of fruits and vegetables to use a guide when replanning your eating habits. It's easy to understand and an excellent referral to go back to again and again.

I had suffered from chronic cough on and off for several years that would come and go. This lead me to see several doctor's over the years and being diagnosed from everything from allergies to possible asthma (and being given medication for both). One doctor finally recommended that I see Dr. Aviv. While in his office, Dr. Aviv gave me a test that allowed him to view (while literally sitting in his office chair) the inside of my esophagus. His diagnosis: acid reflux disease! I couldn't believe it. Since then, I've been following his Acid Watcher diet for several weeks and I can't believe how much better I feel. I had no idea that Dr. Aviv's adage of "food as medicine" can be so accurate. And the best part, is that I've lost 4 pounds on the diet! I wish those other medical "specialists" would have been aware, like Dr. Aviv says in his book, that "the stomach is connected to the throat!" Thank you Dr. Aviv for your book!
