A fresh, meaty, sink–your–teeth–in–and–hold–on–tight new adult fantasy series kicks off with King Hall…

King Hall – where the Mysticals go to learn their craft, get their degrees, and transition into adulthood. And where four new Rulers will rise and meet their destinies.

Lily Ruckler is adept at one thing: survival. Born a Mystical hybrid, her mere existence is forbidden, but her nightmare is only about to start. Fluke, happenstance, and a deep personal loss finds Lily deeply entrenched with those who would destroy her simply for existing – The Mystical Kings. Being named future Queen of the Shifters shoves Lily into the spotlight, making her one of the most visible Mysticals in the world. But with risk comes a certain solace – her burgeoning friendships with the other three Rulers: a wicked Vampire, a wild–child Mage, and a playboy Elemental. Backed by their faith and trust, Lily begins to relax into her new life.

Then chaos erupts as the fragile peace between Commoners and Mysticals is broken, and suddenly Lily realises the greatest threat was never from within, and her fear takes on a new name: the Revolution.

Before requesting King Hall on Netgalley, I had read a lot of paranormal fiction. I've read about the vampire schools, the werewolf family, the romances, and I'm here to tell you King Hall blew all of them out of the water, including those fantasy titles you can't turn a corner without hearing about. This is one of the best paranormal fantasy novels I have read, and I've read almost every main one out there and many indie ones. The plot for King Hall makes all the difference, the set up of 4 Kings, each of a different fraction, Shifter, Vampire, Mage, and elemental. This is something I haven't seen before, rarely does any author tackle two of the creatures but this book tackles 4 sets. We focus on the  Shifters, as the main heroine, is a Shifter. The plot takes twist and turns even in the first third of the book that you do not see coming, you're heartstrings will be pilled in so many directions they will be sore. The core friendship in the book is real, and hilarious. It's an insightful book, and a fresh new look at fantasy  without beating the dead "vampire/werewolf" horse. I've already blabbed about this book to my friends, blogged about it, and shared it on facebook constantly! I need the second one already, the cliffhanger ending is perfect, and leaves the reading wanting so much more! I love this book, and I am not afraid to tell anyone how wonderful this book is! It really is something great in a genre of a lot of the same! I promise you won't be disappointed! There's two days left to pre-order and help us get released on July 25th instead of August 1st! It doesn't seem like a long time, but I promise this book is amazing and you'll wish the second one was in your hands! * I had an ARC from NetGalley to read this book and review it honestly. *

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. It is hard to find the right words to explain this book. King Hall was enthralling, to say the least. By far one of the best books I have ever read. Scarlett Dawn's characters were easy to connect with and felt real. In fact, the entire story felt as if it were very possible. I loved getting to know the different factions and how they worked and seeing her spin on mystical creatures in a modern world. Also, Ezra is the first vampire I have actually enjoyed reading since I read Anne Rice books in high school. The entire time I was reading it I wanted everyone around me to read it as well, just so I could discuss it with them. Knowing that it won't be released for another couple weeks is torture. I couldn't stop highlighting parts in the book. There are so many memorable moments that I want to be able to find again. I'm not one that normally highlights books, but there was so much I wanted to be able to look back and read again and again. I also pre-ordered the book, just because I wanted to own it. This book should be in everyone's collection. I am glad to have read King Hall. It is a story that will stay with me. I look forward to reading more from Scarlett Dawn, and I am glad to have been given the opportunity to have read it early. 5/5 platypires

Holy Buckets Peter! You say that this is Scarlett Dawn's debut novel!? Shut the front door!  This  is Scarlett Dawn's first novel and she nails it! She nails it on the cover, the synopsis, the characters and their personalities and so much more!  She creates a story that flows smoothly, grabs your attention and even your heart. She makes you feel (and at one point I literally broke down and cried) and captivates you with the 4 main mysticals.  Mysticals go to King Hall to learn more about their powers(like a college for Mysticals) and they typically do not form friendships with the other classes/Mysticals however that happens with Lily and her friends!  The 4 Mysticals cause quite the ruckus at King Hall with their behavior and friendships. Between these 4 friends they find friendship, love, loss, power... and more than imagined. Despite the friendships this book focuses around Lily. Lily is a Hybrid Mystical and that is not something common or something to talk about to others.  I have to say I loved her. I felt for her, hurt for her and understood most of her decisions, but want her to eventually get with a certain someone and hopefully get an HEA. :) I loved how her friends accepted her!  She is just a great gal and I think with her friends there she can overcome anything! :)  As for her friends.. well I enjoyed them all as well! Scarlett gives them plenty of personality, pizazz, and spunk that you can't help but love each of them! You will even love the supposed "man-whore" (won't say who that is of course, you will have to read to find that out.. but let me say I loved him and think you will too!!!) :)  To sum it up, KING HALL was an intriguing, delicious, entertaining, captivating and unique story! Anyone who loves the paranormal genre will love this book! It has action, mystery, suspense, love, angst, attraction, loss and so much more to keep you engrossed until the very end!  I look forward to the next book with much EXCITEMENT and would love for it to be out NOW! ;)  I am eagerly awaiting to see where Scarlett will take us next with these wonderful characters.... Well done, Scarlett on your fabulous Debut!     * I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

King Hall was exceptional! I loved the plot development and the characters. Everyone wants a group of friends like the main characters have. Great read! I feel like the author did a fantastic job and I am excited to see what else she will write! There was a bit too much language for my preference, and a little too much sexuality; but outside of that I thought it was perfect!

This was a very well written creative story. The beginning of the book jumps right in and you feel a little confused at first. However a few chapters and you start to get a really good grip on the plot. There really isn't any romance in this first book. Mostly getting to know our prodigies and their developing friendship. Hints of possible romantic relationship as I am hoping will devlop in book two

Ok so at first this book confused me because it felt like I had missed book one, so maybe she needs to write a 0.5 but after that I loved this book!! The characters had real character and you felt their heartache but you also felt their friendship and how it can really help to have someone there for you. It was just the right pace and just enough twist and turns. The book reads as a teen but also has adult content so it falls somewhere in between *DO NOT RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE UNDER 18!!!*

I'm absolutely speechless and I can't wait to start the next book. The beginning made me cry. The middle made me addicted to the story and characters. The ending has left me begging for more!

Warning - Once You Start This Book You Won’t Want to Put It Down! What a find! Scarlett Dawn has created a new urban paranormal world of Coms (humans) and Mys (mysticals - shapeshifters, vampires, mages and elementals) who are just trying to get along - well, most of them that is. The story follows the new generation of the four predestined rulers of the Mys, Lily, Ezra, Pearl and Jack as they undergo training to take over the leadership of their faction in the Mys world. The four characters are entertaining individually and together as they bond over their future responsibility. Their story is about friendship, love, loss and secrets as the Fab Four start crossing the strict boundaries between each of the Mys factions as they begin to prepare to rule. The four also are trying to navigate the tenuous politics of working with the Com world which seems to have developed a terrorist group actively acting against the Mys world and trying to kill off the four. We follow all this through the perspective of Lily, the future Shifter Queen, who is hiding the fact that she is a hybrid of two of the four factions which is considered an abomination within the Mys. BUT don’t confuse ‘King Hall’ as a coming of age story for the Young Adult audience. The characters and story are complex and filled with emotion and action with a splash of fun and romance that keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next. The book is the first in a series and ends on a cliffhanger. However, the book does not leave you unsatisfied as Scarlett Dawn wraps up much of the initial storyline and starts the next phase for the Fab Four as they are thrown into the responsibility of their positions. Don’t miss this exciting and creative new book based in the world of urban paranormal which will grab your attention and leave you craving for more. I received this ebook for free in exchange for an honest review.

Reviewer: Vivi Review Source: NetGalley Can I just say I loved this book? This is my first New Adult novel. It covers and interesting time in all our lives whether mystical or human. It's that transition from the carefree life of being under your parents' or guardians' roof and being thrust into the world to fend for ourselves, finally learning that we don't know everything. King Hall maps the journey of four up and coming prodigies who will become kings and queens of their respective mystical communities. In this unique and interesting world, vampires, mages, elementals, and shifters co-exist with humans. We learn of the dynamics of each of the groups and the politics of their interactions with one another. The four prodigies - Lily, Erza, Jack, and Pearl are forced together to train for their new positions, but builds a strong friendship which enhances their abilities as rulers, but is scrutinized by others surrounding them since intermingling with other groups is frowned upon. All the characters are layered and reveals themselves throughout the book. I loved Lily's character. She acquires the position of shifter prodigy through tragic circumstances. She has a dysfunctional background and holds a secret that can get her killed. Although she's very different from the other mysticals, she has a strength inside her that gives her presence. She struggles to truly embrace that strength throughout the book, thinking her difference may be a weakness. But as she continues to learn more about herself and with the support of the other three prodigies, she blossoms into an remarkable young female. If you're looking for a book filled with action, amazing characters, and strong writing, I highly recommend King Hall by Scarlett Dawn. Only negative is it ends in a cliffhanger. Now, I must get the next book to see what happens next.

Is it possible to have so much fun, heartbreak, humor and story in one book? If King Hall is an example of what to expect from author Scarlett Dawn, we are in for amazing reading for sure! This author has set a high bar to best, and I have no doubt she will! Written for the New Adult paranormal lovers, the sexual/sensual tension is slightly toned down, but I have to say, there are some moments that run the gamut from hot to humorous, honest! The setting? King Hall is like a university for paranormals, or mystical. The courses are designed to teach an individual to use their individual powers to the fullest. So, start by picturing college students, away from home, and add supernatural elements, from weres to vampires to mages, yep, the potential for running amok on steroids! From this mix four mysticals are destined to become the rulers of their groups, but will fate step in and change the players? Now for the dark side, the world knows about these mysticals, and for the most part, there is peace, but factions want to end the existence of the mysticals and are going to extremes to see it happen. Who will survive? Are the young future rulers equipped to handle this? Only if they learn to trust each other and work together, will they stand a chance. Scarlett Dawn can write! I felt I was living each day with the four main characters and watching their growth, their screw ups and the bonds they had formed. And the supporting characters? The current Kings are like your favorite uncles, always ready to teach, demanding, but still caring, quirky and approachable. I ran the list of emotional tugs, I laughed, I wanted to cry, I got exasperated, and I started playing the mental matchmaker in my head! Loved the “secrets” and the bonds and the action! This is escape at its best, not too dark, with a story that felt right for “the big screen,” flawed characters, evil doers, kids with the weight of the world on their shoulders still trying for those “fun” moments every once in a while! Loved this book! I received a copy from Harlequin Enterprises Australia in exchange for my honest review!

King Hall was an amazing fantasy novel that was heartwarming, funny and epic. The novel had a rich world and very complex characters.I absolutely  loved the world Dawn created and adored  the characters and the friendship dynamic ( that hinted at a possible "love interest " for our main character lily in a certain sexy vampire guy). excellent plot , excellent characters and a book that will make you laugh and cry. I highly recommend this book!!!

Loved it!!! :O) I really loved this book. I think that I expected more romance from quotes from the book I have seen posted but I was not disappointed in the least. This was a great YA Fantasy book. Lily is a hybrid and those are taboo. She should be dead according to the law. So imagine hers surprise and fear when she is told that she will be the next Shifter Queen. She is different from the other Shifters and never really fit in with them before. But now that she is the future Shifter Queen they all want to or at least pretend to want to be her friend. Her only true friends are the other three future Kings and Queen. The four future Kings and Queen's form and unusual bond and friendship. The four of them will go through many tests. Decision making. Joyful times and dreadful losses together. They are each thankful for these friendships they have made as they have each other to lean on to help them celebrate, cause trouble or grieve. I thought that this was a great debut book by Scarlett Dawn! I would definitely recommend reading this as once I started I found it hard to stop. I only stopped out of necessity to sleep then finished it the next day. I am so ready for the next book. Once you read it you will know why. Sorry I don't give spoilers! This is definitely worth reading. In my opinion you will not be disappointed. This book is definitely suitable for teens to read and enjoy as well as adults. 'Reviewed by L.S.K. Sweetheart Reviews'

I'm an avid reader, and King Hall is one of the most original, best-written, funniest novels I've had the pleasure of enjoying in quite some time. If you enjoy action, romance, and suspense, then this book is definitely for you! It has something for everyone. I highly recommend it and have the upmost faith that this book and its author are going places. Great work, and I can't wait for King Cave!

When I first started this book, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it as it's not my usual read. My initial look at the book, I was thinking it was going to be something like Harry Potter or something, which in my opinion it's not. Very obvious. BUT, after the first couple chapters I was hooked! The characters are well written, the story itself is AMAZING.... and the ending.. well, I cant wait for King Cave! For anyone looking for a quicker read, great story, and something to look forward to, this is a MUST READ. I've recommended this book to at least 3 other people JUST this morning....

I am the admin on a blog with my friend Stephanie ans she got the ARC of King Hall and as she was reading it she kept telling me I had to read it. She continued to say "I can't wait for it to be released so you can read it and know what it and know what I mean". She said it was in the running for her favorite of the year. I couldn't wait to see what she was talking about so on release day I bought it and devoured it. She was right it is AMAZING and I loved everything about it! I loved how they were all there for each other and how they formed such a close bond. They would kill for each other if needed. I especially loved Ezra and the friendship he formed with Lily. When she is upset he always knows what to do to make her smile. The way she wrote it made me wish I was part of their little circle of friends. A person couldn't ask for a better support team. She did a fabulous job telling this story and I was drawn in and it enveloped me into their world. I felt like I was there for all of the love, friendship, and action. I wanted to throw my kindle when it ended in a cliffhanger but I loved the anticipation of what she had in store for the next book. I can't wait!!!

I am so impressed with the writing style and depth in this debut book by Scarlett Dawn! What an amazing example of the usual Fantacy/romance that are out there for young authors. This fist book in a new series, hits every point a reader is yearning for! I feel completely awe struck by the storyline and characters that I have fallen in love with right from the start! This is NOT your typical werewolf, fairy, vampire, shapeshifter book. No, this story hit you right from the start and keeps surprising you page after page after page. I for one coul NOT put it down and have since read it TWICE!!! It was worth every penny and I would read anything this author is willing to write! I am looking so forward to reading the next instant of this series.

The book has a strand of naughty humor woven throughout it that popped up when you least expected it. The book does a good job at evoking emotional responses from the reader, any emotional response.  The author isn't too picky.  Laughter, emotional pain, embarrassment, you name it.  Oh, there are times I was laughing so hard I had tears pouring down my face.  So hard my cheeks were hurting from laughing. I could go into detail on all the things I loved about the book… but I promised the author no spoilers, and I really want you to enjoy it yourself, both shocked and surprised and begging for more. The author has this way of portraying certain things.  It is simultaneously so obviously perfect, and yet totally unexpected. And I loved their powers.  Some of them were just so wrong.  Naughty… very naughty. The ending of the book was wonderful, lots of action, tension, emotional outbursts.  A screamed in frustration a bit at the ending.  I wasn't ready for it to end.  It ended.  A bit of a cliffhanger, but not so bad I'm pissed at the author.  It is enough that, if there is another book — and there damn well better be — I want it NOW!!!! I simultaneously want to scream at and kiss the author.  I also want to shake her until a second book pops out... Received review copy from NetGalley.

With the world of paranormals that could or could NOT be out there, it’s something that people will always wonder what the truth is. I have to say that if they exist, I hope they exist in the way that Scarlett has created them! The world that she was able to create to where everyone lived together was just amazing. When I first started this story, it seemed a little slow for me. But as I went further and further along in the story, I just couldn’t put it down. I ended up staying up later than I normally do at night to just finish reading this story. The excitement that started was done to the point where you wanted to know more about what was going on. You wanted to be able to find out what was happening and who was causing all the pain and suffering. Lily’s character I have mixed feelings about. I think that it was great how she ended up finding her strength, but in the beginning she just sounded like a whinny little girl who wasn’t getting what she wanted. Even further into the book she had her moments where she was acting like a brat, but I think that she had a good balance between everything. The other main characters; Pearl, Jack and Ezra, were well written also. They each had something that they brought to the table. Whenever someone needed strength, they were there to support the other. The sexual tension between some of them was off the charts and leaves you wondering what will happen to them. The CLIFFHANGER!!! Oh my gosh I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo upset with Scarlett about that. But then on the other hand I think I love her even more for it! We get more!!!! *happy dance time* With the way this story is, it will slowly pull you in and even after you finish reading it, you are going to want to know more and more. Another MUST read from me!
