I enjoyed reading this book. The main characters are very entertaining and the array of emotions are well written. I just wish it was a bit longer.

This book was awesome. I love the idea of bird shifters. I found the story to be and the realm in which Kabril lived to be fascinating. This book was incredibly well written, the characters were highly likable. Kabril, Sachin, and Rayna I felt were perfect for this story world. Kabril had just the right amount of arrogance and regality to him. While Sachin was the perfect best friend and adviser, he kept Kabril on his toes and made sure he took care of his responsibilities. I look forward to reading Sachin's story. Rayna was a strong heroine, she knew what she wanted and how she felt about things and she didn't let the king run over her. I fully enjoyed their love story. It was hot, thrilling, emotional, and quite fun. Especially, with Kabril's way of speaking and their aversion to chicken.

First bird shifter book I have ever read. It was good. I enjoyed it. It even made me chuckle out loud several times.

At just over 100 pages, this was a good, short read. The characters were easy to fall in love with, and there is enough opened things to make the reader want to read the next book to see what happens to the other characters.

This book has kept me intrigued from the beginning. Kabril was breath of fresh air; a king use to getting his way until he met Rayna. Sachin, his "assistant" is a humorous fellow I cannot wait to read about in the next book. The King of Prey is a quick 125 page of steamy romance tangled with humor, love, and sacrifice. Thank you for keeping me within the pages at every chance, it's been refreshing and I will definitely move onto the second book within the series.

Enjoyable .

My nook says it's 125 pages, but I think it may be closer to 200. It's a good read, definitely a little different from most shifter books. I love that this focused on birds and not the norm. I think the relationship could have been developed a little more, but really all around it was a good book. I plan to read more from this author.

A little over the top dialogue wise. Good plot moved very quickly. Characters have humor and depth would have given five stars if story had been fleshed out a bit more with some more background info

King of Prey is book one in the King of Prey series by Mandy M. Roth. This was my first book by Mandy Roth and now I’m wondering what the heck took me so long! King Kabril, King of the Buteos Regalis is a bird shifter, specifically a hawk. His kingdom has been suffering. There have been no new children born in years. The streets no longer carry the sounds of children’s laughter. Morale is low, people are unhappy. It is prophesied that King Kabril must go to the human realm of earth and he will find his mate there. After he is accepted by his mate, the rest of his kingdom will once again bear young. Humans are looked down upon by Kabril’s people. For one thing, they don’t have wings. Another is that their life spans are so short. But if this is the sacrifice Kabril must make, he will go, along with his trusted advisor, Sachin. Rayna Vogel is a photographer. She loves to photograph wildlife, specifically birds. She has lost her grandmother and has sold her home. She decided to be neighborly and take over a dish to welcome them. She can’t believe these two beautiful men she sold the house to. Especially the one named Kabril. There’s just something about him. Thus begins Kabril’s somewhat hilarious attempts to woo Rayna human style. He falls for her right away and knows she’s the one he wants, but she has to fall in love with him as well. “I choose this one. She is most pleasing to the eye and…will birth fine sons. She will make a perfect queen.” At the same time, danger from Kabril and Sachin’s realm has followed them to earth and this will put Rayna in danger if it is learned that she is important to him. I loved this short book. This is my first avian shifter story but no matter what sort of shifter it is, there is something so sexy about beautiful wings popping out of a man’s back. Kabril and Rayna’s courtship was so cute but what will happen when she finds out that Kabril is holding back some very important details about himself from her. That he’s not human at all. Will Rayna accept him as her mate and save his kingdom? I can’t wait to read book two, Sachin’s story. I definitely want to continue the series and hope to read much more of this author’s work.

I loved this book!!! LOVED IT!!! Kabril is an alpha male that thinks he will find his mate and demand that she come back with him to his realm. What he gets is so much better! He meets Rayna and she can tame him. This is a sexy book with a lot of stem so be prepared! I can not wait to read the rest of the books!

Good book. Somewhat short but a good quick romance. unique shifter plot, strong female personality to counter alpha male. It could have been longer and has more background and details.

I really hate to just give this book 4 stars, it really was a good story. For me, the first 5 chapters were a bit slow, but even though this isn't my type of story, it totally drew me in after that. I loved the character's and the story line.

GREAT STORY. Probably one of my favorites stories out of this series. I love the way Lazar and Sabrina come together. The humor, the love, it all just fits so well. Sabrina plays such a strong young woman. Very independent yet still in need of everything Lazar can offer. Her relationship with Gardelle is great. I also love the interesting behavior between Sabrinas friend Lisa and Gardelle. That could be a story all it's own. Overall the book is great. I also LOVE the new cover.

King of Prey is a wonderful book. King of Prey is different from other shifter books that I have read because this book is about bird shifters! I couldn't believe it when I started reading. Loved how Rayna doesn't take any crap from Kabril and she's not afraid to stand up to him. But the chemistry between the two of them will melt the pages. Bird shifters! Need I say more! I can not wait to read the next book in the series!

the first book i ever ready by Roth...never had thought about bird shifters before but mandy made that bird very entertaining and rather dense for a king, lucky rayna is strong enough to take on the king and put him firmly in his place!

I loved this story so much I had read it three times. I love king kabril and how he changes his way of thinking and being just to please his chosen mate. The bird shifters are all really cool but kabril holds a special place in my heart.

Great Series! This is the first book in the King of Prey series. Kabril is the King of the Buteos Regalis, his people believe the prophecy states that if he takes a mate then the fertility will be restored to his people. His mate Rayna ends up being a human, and can’t shift. I enjoyed reading how Kabril and Rayna finds true love with each other and overcomes the many obstacles they had to face. I can’t wait to read the other books in this series.  A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
