About the Author

5 FUN FACTS ABOUT BRITTNI CHENELLE

1. She lives in South Korea.
It's true. She does most of her updates in the morning or at night to account for the time difference. She also infuses most of her novels with her observations about Korean culture.

2. She's a Type 1 Diabetic.
She uses an insulin pump for survival and refers to her diabetes as "Beetie" which is what inspired her children's book "Life with Beetie". When she wants something from her parents she tells them, "My Beetie hurts." It's a trick that has never failed her.

3. She doesn't really BELIEVE in fiction.
Despite all the; Dragons, Elves, and Magic present in her novel "Involuted the Tale of the Red Ribbon Tree", Brittni INSISTS that it's a true story.

4. She's OBSESSED with dark chocolate.
She made me put that in and would also like me to inform you (on an unrelated note) that her birthday is in May.

5. Sorry guys, she's married.
If you ask her, she'll tell you her husband saved her life but everytime someone asks "how?" she gives a different reason. I've overheard her give about 4 different reasons, but I bet she has more. He must be an amazing guy.

*This book was given to me by the author in exchange for an honest review* Princess Charlotte is sixteen when she is told she is going to be married off to try to prevent a war from starting in her kingdom. She is betrothed to Prince Young of Vires and it is the last thing Charlotte wants. She tries to do anything she can to get out of it, including shooting an arrow by the prince when he shows up. Prince Young was excited about the wedding, but obviously is less than thrilled by being shot at, and seeing that Charlotte seems more interested in his brother than him. He doesn’t want to go through with the wedding, however he understands that it’s not about their happiness, it’s about bringing to kingdoms together to help the people. Everything changes though when the kingdom is attacked and they all have to flee. Emotions, trust, friendship, and love are all tested between everyone. I enjoyed this story’s plot very much. It was action packed and there were a few unexpected twists that I enjoyed. There were also a few moments where I’d get nervous or scared for a character, not knowing how a situation was going to turn out. However, while I loved the story’s plot, there was absolutely no character development. Characters would look at someone and instantly fall in love. I thought that it would be an interesting concept, that even though these two people are in an arranged marriage, they fall in love with other people. I thought it would be fun to see where these new relationships went, but they were just dropped instantly. I was wondering why they were even there to begin with. Also some characters motivations weren’t explained. They would think or do certain things and there would be no explanation why. It did leave me frustrated and while I do hate books that drag along and add too much to the story, I believe this needed a little more to it for me to enjoy it more. ***Review has been done in conjunction with Nerd Girl Official. Kingdom Cold is an addictive read. The story pulled me in deeper every chapter I read. I knew Kingdom Cold was multicultural with characters of different ethnic backgrounds. However, this aspect flows throughout the story so that it isn’t noticeable. The characters are so well-written you won't even think about race or ethnicity. They are who they are. I love this! It’s how the world SHOULD be! The plots twists and turns take the reader on an exciting journey. The unexpected ending left me hoping there will soon be a follow-up book. Kingdom Cold has all the aspects of a classic fairytale....with a few unexpected developments. Even though the book is listed as Young Adult Fantasy & Romance, I believe readers of every age will enjoy this story.
