What People are Saying About This

Nicholas Perrin

“[The] Kingdom New Testament: a comforting voice for struggling newcomers, a fresh voice for translation-tired veterans. I know of no one more qualified to take the message of the New Testament and put it into words that the modern person can fully understand.”

Ben Witherington

“Wright’s Kingdom New Testament is both faithful and fresh, both lucid and enlightening, both careful and creative. Bringing to bear his wealth of scholarship and a lifetime of study, it will serve us well for many years to come. Enthusiastically recommended.”

Kenneth E. Bailey

Translations often are either too ‘popular’ or too ‘formal.’ This fresh translation of the New Testament strikes a fine balance between the two as it ably rescues truth from familiarity. I recommend it highly to all who love the New Testament.

Scot McKnight

“I hope everyone gets a copy. . . . Translation is brisk and energetic, gender neutral, and has some real surprises. . . . There is something quite distinct about [Wright’s] translation: he wants the reader to feel the 1st Century, to hear a Jew call Jesus ‘Messiah’’or ‘King.’”

This translation is a treasure. It is an invaluable addition needed to any Pastor or serious student of the New Testament.

I'm not a scholar so i can't comment on the accuracy of the translation but it reads incredibly well. Maybe the newness hasn't worn off yet but this is by far my favorite translation to pick up and read for pleasure. Other versions frequently claim readability and literary beauty but this one pulls it off masterfully.

While staying true to the original texts, N.T. Wright brings a fresh perspective to the familiar stories and letters of the New Testament. This translation helped me to get past the familiar language of the King James Version that I grew up with to see the gospels and epistles with fresh eyes.

Having read many translations and versions of the New Testament, I did not find anything unique or especially helpful in Wrights's New Testament. I would be helpful to anyone who does not have a New Testament or one in contemporary language.
