Interesting. This is the account of an American woman visiting the WWI front in 1914 before America was involved. Of course it addressed horrific conditions in the trenches and in the hospitals. There were interviews with generals, world leaders, medical personnel. The book also touched on women's status, American sentiments, and social issues of the times. There was even a part towards the end about the role of theBoy Scouts. The perspective was somewhat unique being that of a woman. Some of the issues such as the concern for reintegrating Soldiers into society after war and some of the mental trauma of some veterans are issues still common today. I found the book interesting.
