Just why are people heading to the seemingly ordinary warehouse? Curiosity isn’t the only thing that gets aroused when Rosie, our heroine, accompanied by a man she meets quite by chance, decides to take a peek in at the window. Our intrepid couple manage to get invited inside to be told by the owners, “You have to be genuine deviants.” Well Miss Elyot, sign me up right now! Rosie gets so much more than she bargained for, and you really do feel for the girl as, led by her own curiosity, she is drawn into another world. Just like Rosie, you get to explore her once dormant kink. “I like spanking you like to be spanked, two halves that click; it’s that simple,” says Dmitiri, Rosie’s dom. Indeed! Very simply you get enthralled by the story. The inner workings of the Club are delightfully told. You are right there in amongst the excitement and the heat, the equipment and the cuffs, bound in with Rosie’s fate. The pacing of the story is as smart as Rosie’s cheeks as she pushes herself further down the road of submission with every passing chapter. Like her, you yearn for the next step along the path. The height of the story for me, is when Rosie recognizes that she is at the point at which every sub must arrive. The fear of losing their dom. “This has been the fear, much more than any pain or discomfort it might involve. The real fear of losing him.” Does she go further down the road or back out? Is she hooked? Has the dom done his job? Is she subbed? From your voyeuristic vantage point you really feel the story turn. In a flash of realization her fate is decided, “I know that only the cane will do.” From that moment she fully commits, pushing herself beyond her boundaries. At one point she falters. “I can’t, I will. I do.” In those beautifully crafted six words alone you get a beautiful summation of her awakening. “The pain,” Rosie reflects, “he gave it to me; it is precious.” In the end the story comes full circle like a good story should. I won’t, of course, reveal the ending but it rounds off the story extremely well. I absolutely loved Kinky and I am sure I will read it over and over again. Now that, dear reader, is worth paying the value added smacks.

Fine little work fo BDSM fiction. The story is well-written, with character development and atmosphere given their proper due. Rosie & Dmitri are both compelling, likeable, round characters who both depart from the usual stereotypes found in characters of this genre. The reader gets the sense that these are real people you're reading about. There are plenty of "scenes" in the book, but they could be better described as titillating than pornographic. A one-handed read this isn't. For a nice saturday afternoon escape, however, this one's hard to beat (begging pardon the pun.)

likeable characters, especially Dimitri. Maybe a little too long. It was good but didn't need to take as long as it did to reach the end.
