Unable to pay her bills, she takes an unlikely second job to make ends meet and finds herself struggling to maintain two lives—her own, and that of her alter ego. Kirby is a sassy, imaginative, and extroverted fireball whom Rachel had no idea was lying dormant inside of her.
Enter Joe, a larger-than-life, brutally hot writer with a heart of gold. Rachel can’t seem to control herself around him, despite the fact that she’s sworn off men until she can get her career back on track. Their backgrounds and interests very nearly run parallel, and the Universe seems to keep pulling the pair together—in every aspect of Rachel’s life.
What happens when two worlds collide, particularly where it concerns Joe? The ride of her life may just lead to love—or it could lead back to the drawing board.

I normally don't read contemporary romances. However, the title and blurb made me want to know the story. I wasn't disappointed. Though this is a light-hearted novel, there are levels of depth. Joe is a sweetheart and makes you want to kiss him and more. Rachel gets interesting once Kirby comes into the picture. I would have liked to have seen more of Kirby's inside world (i.e. her job ;) Overall a great read that will make you look for more by this author.
This is the best romantic comedy I've read in years. It reminded me of the great old rom-coms I used to watch with my mom as a kid but with a clever, modern spin on the classic premise. It's well written and full of fun, recognizable, relatable characters (I've a serious crush on the hero).
What a fun, suspenseful, and witty novel! KIRBY is fast-paced, with great characters, whip-smart dialogue, and a sizzling---yet sweet---romance. I enjoyed the author's lively take on the phone sex industry, which she wove into the story deftly (and in a non-smarmy way) to provide compelling conflict between the hero and heroine. That, and a subplot involving the publishing industry (with a wicked editor and a savvy publisher) kept me turning the pages until well past midnight. Fans of the film "Working Girl" will certainly enjoy KIRBY, as will all readers who like to start their day with a big cup of Joe. ;)
So far my favorite read, especially while waiting for the warmer weather to get here. The New York scene Samantha Anne created from page one had me dreaming of a glamorously simple life in New York. The colors she painted throughout Rachel's surroundings made me feel like I could actually see and feel what the character could. One thing that left me wanting after reading Kirby was a movie. Of all rom-coms that have gotten the greenlight, this one is seriously due a turn! With all that goes on Rachel's life, her feisty best friend, Camille, and desperately needed side job (to make ends meet as well as a catalyst to finding her stronger voice) while she claws the corporate ladder of Equinox Publishing, I'm confident it'll translate perfectly as a movie! Also, Hottie McCoffeehouse needs to be immortalized on the big screen, stat. I can't wait to see what other fun, flirty reading this author has to offer.
