About the Author

USA Today bestselling author Sidney Halston lives her life by one simple rule: “Just do it.” And that’s exactly what she did. At the age of thirty, having never written anything other than a legal brief, she picked up a pen to pursue her dream of becoming an author. That first stroke sealed the deal, and she fell in love with writing. Halston lives in South Florida with her husband and children.

Lola
The little hairs on the back of my neck stand up and without having to turn around I know William Fox is close by.

When I got the job at Panic, I was happier than I’d been in years. Knowing how packed the club gets and the prices of the drinks, I knew my tips would double my income. But then I crashed into Fox. Literally. And that feeling of happiness changed into something I hadn’t felt in years.

Yearning.

For a long time my existence has consisted of work, sleep, eat—rinse and repeat. I’ve been so focused on survival, I’ve pushed all my needs and wants aside for so long that I hadn’t realized how much I’ve missed having a connection with a man. And, the connection I had with Fox was serendipitous. It was immediate, intense, and electric. I’m not talking love at first sight. No, I’m talking lust and hunger, and a desire to pull that thick beard toward me and kiss him with reckless abandon.

Sometimes I think I can feel his deep, gravelly voice when he’s near or maybe I can just sense he’s in the room by the way women turn their heads and stare.

Even after half a year of knowing the man, I still don’t really know much about him except that people seem to gravitate toward him. He’s charismatic and funny and talks a lot. I also know he’s confident and a little bit arrogant, and there’s an air to him that screams money and power.

From the moment he crashed into me, I’ve known we’re as different as two people can be. From his designer suits to the way he styles his hair; the man is obviously well-off. He always smells of that men’s cologne, the expensive one that they give samples of at the mall. I don’t know how much a bouncer at a nightclub can possibly make, but Fox has it in spades.

And because life isn’t fair, God has been abundantly kind to the man by not only blessing him with wealth and charisma, he also has sex appeal the likes of which I’ve never experienced, which is why every time he walks by, I want to jump him like a cat in heat.

So, naturally, I avoid him. And have since the day I crashed into him.

I ignore the little pinpricks on the back of my neck and refuse to look back at him.

My palms sweat and my heart starts to beat faster every time he’s near. On a normal day, I’m awkward, but when he’s around I’m just . . . weird. I mean, the man had to ask me for his hand back when we first met. I was mortified.
I see the way other women look at Fox; the smiles that spread across their faces when he lets them into the club. As if he’s Saint Peter standing in front of the pearly gates. Except club Panic isn’t heaven and Fox is no saint.

Sizzling hot romance. I absolutely loved Fox and Lola together. My only issue with the book was that Lola gave off the impression that she was embarrassed about being deaf. Other than that, loved the book. The chemistry and sex between Fox and Lola were off the chart. Loved the ending. Can't wait to read book 4!!!

2.5 Stars I really enjoyed the first book in this series (Pull Me Close), but couldn't finish the second one. I decided to give Halston another try with Kiss Me Back. Sadly, I just didn't fall in love with these characters or the writing. Something I have a hard time with in genre fiction is how generic or formulaic the plots and characters become. Girl who's "not like the other girls;" boy who's physically large and imposing, broody but with a secret sweet side; one (or both) characters with a tragic or difficult past. Sooner or later all of the romance stories I've read mesh together and I have a hard time distinguishing one from the other. One thing I do enjoy about this novel and Halston's previous one, is the unique characteristic she gives one (or both) of her main characters. In Pull Me Close it was social anxiety and agoraphobia. Here it's a hearing impairment (Lola) and dyslexia (Fox). I like that she explores these types of characters and that she does it in a caring, realistic way. While the writing and story did not pull me in, I can see others enjoying this third book in this standalone series.

Kiss Me Back is a SEXY read. The characters were really well written & the story was strong & very entertaining. This was the third book in The Panic series & they have all been fantastic. They can be read as stand alone stories. Lola & Fox were a hot & sassy couple & their love story was a blast to read. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

in kiss me back, fox has had his eye on lola since she started working at panic, but she's rebuffed his every move. it's not that she isn't interested. it's that she has plans and a goal and falling for a ridiculously hot bouncer isn't one of them. when fox figures out her secret, she's terrified that he's going to rat her out. or even worse, lose interest in her. but he proves her wrong at every turn. he's supportive and accepting and tries so hard to understand and learn about her wants and needs. the problem is that lola has a very specific end date for her job as a bartender and that end date coincides with her leaving the country. so what is the point of starting something up with fox when there is no future for it. the last thing she needs is someone giving her a reason to stay, not when all she has ever wanted to do is go. what fox and lola need to realize is that dreams can shift and change. and sometimes what you think you want isn't what you really need at all. **kiss me back published on march 27, 2018. i received an advance reader copy courtesy of netgalley/random house publishing group (loveswept) in exchange for my honest review.

While this was the third book in Halston's Panic series, but the first that I've read. While it might have added some background information about some of the other characters mentioned, this could definitely be read as a standalone. Both Fox and Lola have their own issues/baggage that they bring to the relationship and it took some effort for them to move past them and figure their stuff out. It took me a little while to connect with the Fox, but in the end, I liked him. For some reason, at times I felt like the timeline was a bit accelerated, but it wasn't overly distracting for me. There were some interesting twists in this story and without giving too much away, I liked how it portrayed characters with "differences". *I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

What a great and emotional story! I truly loved how Fox and Lola just "got" each other. They understood what the other needed before any words or actions were done. Sure they had a hot and intense physical connection, but their understanding of one another as well as being there for the other was a thing of beauty. Fox was such a caring and tender man who wanted so much for Lola and it was as quick as first seeing her. Lola was drawn to his charismatic nature. They were just a beautiful couple. And I loved the ribbing Fox's friends gave him while he was in pursuit of Lola. So sweet and funny! The ending was one I never would have guessed but it could not have fit both Lola and Fox better. I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.

engaging & inviting KISS ME BACK is the third instalment in Sidney Halston’s contemporary, adult PANIC erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women who work for the high-end Miami night club Panic. This is security specialist William Fox, and bartender and graduate student Lola Daye’s story line. KISS ME BACK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Told from dual first person points of view (Fox and Lola) KISS ME BACK follows the building relationship between security specialist aka bouncer William Fox, and bartender Lola Daye-a relationship with an end date that will come all too soon. Lola knows that her time at Panic is drawing to a close; only weeks away from completing her Masters degree, she intends to head to Ecuador to work with the under-privileged but her attraction to bouncer William Fox is met with an equal attraction that has been ongoing for close to six months. What ensues is the building relationship between Fox and Lola, and the potential fall-out as their time together draws to a close. Lola Daye has a secret she believes will set her apart from the people she has grown to love. It is this secret that has shaped the woman our heroine has become, a woman who refuses to accept help or aid at times when she needs it the most. William Fox is a man determined to be successful as a security specialist but success is represented by the persona he wants everyone to see. Fox, too, keeps secret a hidden past, a past mired in loss, abuse and rejection by the man he no longer acknowledges. Fox’s acceptance of Lola’s secret is heart warming and all encompassing to the degree that any help offered is met with resistance and fire. The relationship between Lola and Fox is one of immediate attraction but Lola knows her time at Panic is limited as she intends to finish her degree working with the children in the villages of Ecuador. Throughout their growing relationship there are many misunderstandings between Lola and Fox, due in part to Lola’s hyper-sensitive take on Fox’s need to protect and worry. The mutual vulnerabilities are hidden behind fake facades that mask the truth about who they really are. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic, and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Nick and Katherine (Pull Me Close), Matt and April (Make Me Stay), and bartenders and servers Helen and Jane. Helen’s story line is next. KISS ME BACK is a story of friendship and love; struggles and anxiety; moving forward and letting go. The premise is engaging and inviting; the romance is seductive and passionate; the characters are sassy but broken. Lola’s commitment to be independent is counter intuitive to Fox’s need to protect and defend, and in this our heroine’s feisty attitude leaves something to be desired.

Don't Panic but Kiss Me Back is a total keeper. Fox is absolutely 100% the Guy. Well maybe 90%...Maybe it's just me but a sweet, irresistibly sexy man who pursues you without being a creeper is hot. Add on to that with the fact that he wants something more... Hawt! Oh and then there's the hidden wonders of his personality...Yeah, Fox is a total keeper. Lola is in a world of trouble. Psst, Sidney do you have any extra William Foxes laying around? I could use one. Maybe I should take a trip to Panic...

Lola, raised in an uncaring foster home, has no family. She works two jobs, lives in a cheap apartment that's in an unsavory part of town, and lives on pb&j in hopes of earning enough money to complete her Master's program. She's a hard worker, with secrets, who keeps to herself. While she's comfortable in her own skin, she's been hurt badly by her past boyfriend and has sworn off all men. Until she meets William Fox... William Fox has spent his life trying to prove his dad wrong. Raised in a broken home by an abusive father, Fox has always thought himself "dumb". He invested a little money which made more money. He works hard as a bouncer in an upscale nightclub making enough money to buy a flashy sports car, a modern (white) condo, and name brand suits. He dresses for success and women swoon--all except Lola. Challenge accepted! I LOVED this novel!!! The old adage of "Money doesn't buy happiness" is interwoven throughout this story. Fox has money, but isn't truly happy. Fox works at his job because he's good at it, but starts to question if it makes him happy. Lola closes herself off to the possibility of love due to one bad experience. She doesn't give others a chance to really "know" her, cutting them off before her heart becomes involved. Tempers flare and words are exchanged.....Fox is patient, kind, caring, funny, protective, smart, and romantic. Lola is challenging, upfront, caring, and passionate. Lola and Fox together, are perfection! I read a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

I think my favorite thing about the Panic series is that it forces you to look beyond what you can see to truly get to know someone. Every single book has touched on delicate subjects that could easily be written in a completely stereotypical way, yet Sidney Halston has the ability to treat these issues with the respect and dignity they deserve. Lola is working toward her goals of finishing school and dating a man like Fox isn't on her to-do list. Fox has been intrigued by Lola since her very first day at Panic. The relationship that builds between these two unique individuals is beautiful to watch and I was rooting for them from the very first page. I am so in love with this series and never want it to end. I hope that every character introduced at Panic gets a story!! *This is my voluntary review of an advanced reader copy*

Such an enjoyable read. I am really liking this series. Fox and Lola have fantastic chemistry. They were perfect for each other even when they didn't realize they could be so much more than they originally allowed. Great story line like the others in this series have been.

Review Panic has a new bartender and the full of himself security man/bouncer/entry door man has his eye on this shy little thing. Lola keeps to herself and being shy is just Lola. Earbuds in, busy working doing her job, she's managed to blow Fox off for 6 months. He asks her out, she turns him down every. single. time. Fox is pretty full of himself, he's got his share of baggage from the past and he works hard to keep that under wraps. Outward appearances are deceiving. The guys are opening a new club and Fox is tasked with being the head of security for the new club. He also notices Lola will be making the move too. Lola works two jobs, she's saving money for the tuition to finish her internship for her masters program. That internship is in Ecuador. She's a short timer, no one knows that, she lives in a dangerous neighborhood, in a tiny apartment and saves every penny she makes. She's comfortable with her plan. Lola has something she's hiding and she hides it so very well. Then there's the day that Fox figures out what she's hiding. Then one day she agrees to have a meal with Fox. There's an attraction there, Lola knows it's short term and makes it clear to Fox that whatever happens between them ends when she leaves and she is leaving. As things transition between them, who is on the losing end of this agreement as they called it? I found myself liking Lola a lot. She's been through some really rough stuff and to be finishing her masters and going after what she wants. Nice strong female lead. Fox was a pain in the rear, I know he had something to prove to himself but there were times were he butted in to Lola's life as you'll see when you read the book I wanted to smack him and say "back the hell off" The girl has been there and done that. Literally. Fox wanted it all. He dang near had it too. But he put her on a plane and let her go off to Ecuador. Hiding his feeling. Oh poor Fox. I liked this book. Not as much as book two but it's still a great read and great in the series. Sidney sure writes a great story. Read this one. It's a keeper. **arc from NetGalley and publisher in exchange for an honest review ** (less)

With just a single look William Fox makes every woman in the room weak in the knees, he's good looking, got serious swagger, and knows just what it takes to command a woman's attention... and hold it! But there is one woman in particular that seems to be immune to his smoldering gaze, and it just so happens to be the one woman he wants, so it drives him more than a little crazy that he can't lure her in. Then one night she has a moment of weakness, and gives him just what he has been wanting... her attention and a "yes" to his question about a date. And he plans to make the most of it, she wants one night, and he plans to give her the best night of her life... in hopes that it will convince her to stick around a little longer! Lola Daye watches woman after woman fall for Fox's sexy smirk, she watches him lure them into his arms for the night, and she is determined to never be that fool. But, then she gets a little tipsy one night, he asks for a date, and for some dumb reason she agrees, knowing it will only end in an one night affair. Which is just fine for her, because she has big plans for herself, one's that don't involve getting attached to a man... but then again she has never met a man quite like William Fox!! Kiss Me Back is a sensual and passionate tale that is certain to weaken the knees of romance readers and leave them green with envy! Every woman would love to find a man like Mr. Fox, while he may come off as a playboy, he also has an unexpected sweet side that rivals the naughty side, and inspires a serious case of the swoons... he was such a charmer!! I really enjoyed this latest offering from Ms. Halston, the story line was filled with moments that had the toes curling, moments that had me saying ahh!, and moments that squeezed my heart. I highly recommend you meet these two, their wonderful story will leave your heart happy! I requested an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley, and voluntarily read and reviewed.

Sidney Halston resumes her “Panic” series with this sweet and sultry story of the tempting yet pretentious nightclub security man and the sexy down to earth bartender who taught him about true happiness. After literally running into William Fox the day she was hired as a bartender at one of Miami’s hottest nightclubs, Lola has worked hard and avoided the cocky and delicious man even harder. But the more she resists the more determined Fox becomes, until a bit too much alcohol leads her to accept his offer to take her out. But while Lola wants a fling with an expiration date so as not to deter her dream to finish her master’s degree abroad, Fox knows the could be so much more. Can he convince her to give them a chance? Will he be able to let her go when the time comes or can they find another way? Lola Daye is no ordinary heroine, she is resilient and intriguing. The secret she lived with and guarded was unexpected and the way Fox embraced it when he found out makes the reader see past his showy shell and into the tender, loving and caring heart of a man who was looking for happiness in the wrong places until he met Lola. And once he found her, the lengths he’s will to go to are absolutely swoon worthy. The novel includes delightful moments with characters from the previous books and introduces a potential leading man for the series, in which case I can’t wait for the next installment. Kiss Me Back is book #3 of the Panic series by author Sidney Halston. It is a standalone contemporary romance, told from both points of view with a happy ending.

Lola has been striving for the last seven years to make her dreams come true. In is just a few months’ time those plans will be coming to fruition. Working a second job at Panic is a step in helping to achieve her goals but getting involved with the very attractive bouncer is not. Fox has worked hard to find the success he now has in his life. He has a great home, expensive car, and the best suits money can buy. For the last six months he’s been trying to get a date with Lola but she always politely declines. Then, on the worse day of the year for him, she accepts. Each with their own unique problems this couple come together for a sex only relationship that has an expiration date. Fox is in a quandary as to how to open Lola’s eyes up to the possibility of more even as he holds tight to those things he thinks are important to him. The way Fox and Lola worked together to overcome their individual issues was not only enduring but inspiring. I loved the way they used humor to smooth the way over some of their speed bumps. Fox was such a wonderful hero both sweet and sexy and dedicated to Lola. Lola’s background left her afraid of being rejected so her inclination was to do things on her own. When he offers her the greatest gift she could ever imagine I wanted to bawl my eyes out. His love for her was selfless and unending and it literally ripped my heart out of my chest to witness it. I have truly enjoyed every book in this series but Kiss Me Back is by far my favorite thus far. I absolutely loved every single moment in this book! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Loveswept. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

3.25* William “Fox” Fox has the look of a bad boy bouncer in a Armani suit, he’s immaculate from his clothes, tie and his very groomed beard. He’s the man everyone wants to impress so they get into Club Panic. Lola Daye is the new bartender at Panic she keeps to herself, quite and very good at her job. From the moment Fox meets Lola he's taken by the quite beautiful girl and vows to get her to go out with him. Lola doesn’t know how long she can fight the attraction between her and Fox but she to close to her dream to start a relationship. As long as she keeps to herself there’s no way she can be hurt or shunned by people. Its been so long since she been since she’s been close to someone and Fox is getting under her skin. Lola and Fox come to an agreement, no strings relationship of sex and the use of his wash and dryer until she leaves in two months. It all seems so uncomplicated and simple until the non relationship lines start to blur and they start to need and want more. They discovered and uncover so much about each other their friendship grows to understanding each other’s secrets. Fox and Lola learn how love can change your wants and dreams and things that seemed so important before no longer matter. I wish the first half of this book was as good as the last half which was awesome. I almost did not finish this book because it just didn’t flow and I felt nothing for the characters. I’m glad I did not give up on it.

Fox is the bouncer at the high-end club Panic and he drives the fancy car, wears the designer suites and has the white pristine home. Everything in his life has to be the best of everything because he was a kid from the bad neighbourhood and had nothing but an abusive father. Lola is the new bartender at Panic who grew up in foster care and saves every penny from her 2 jobs so that she can finish her degree overseas. When Fox and Lola's eyes meet, sparks fly and they begin a sex only affair because Lola is leaving in 2 months. At first I though that Fox was shallow, but as time went on, I began to love his character. Lola had all kinds of challenges that she overcome and she just came across as so genuine. And then there were the steamy scenes ... HOT! I just wanted them to open their eyes and each give a little so that their relationship could work. A quick but very enjoyable read. I received an ARC courtesy of Random House-Loveswept through NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

Heartwarming thoughtful romance This is the first book I've read by Sidney Halston and I absolutely loved it. Lola and Fox were amazing characters. Realistically portrayed with good and bad traits that made them very human. I don't want to give away any spoilers but this book was an extremely well done story about people who face day to day challenges in their lives. The author handles the subjects with great insight and respect. Along with being a very thoughtful book it was sexy and fun. I so enjoyed Lola and Fox's journey to their HEA. I highly recommend this book and I look forward to reading more books by Sidney Halston. I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley.
