Lady Jessamyn is not happy about the arranged marriage she is facing! All she wants to do is breed and train her horses. And a Scot on top of it, to appease her godfather, The King. She is tried of being a pawn. Raab Mackai is not happy about the arrangement either, he does not want to marry an Englishwoman! But he needs her dowry to make his home and stable what it used to be. He has to find a way to deal with this situation. So he will make her hate him and his home! Sounds like a perfect plan to him. Then they meet. This was a great story of what happens when there is chemistry between two people who don't want anything to do with each other. I loved the writing, the angst that builds up between these two is really well done, and the family dynamics that are an integral part of the story are timeless. I really liked the family characters! I will certainly look for more by this author! *I received an Arc in exchange for my honest review!

Disclaimer: I received this free in exchange for an honest review. Lady Jessamyn despises being treated like cattle. Sold off to a Scotsman to secure her godfather's plans was not part of her dreams. Jessamyn won't let anyone even her compelling intended get in the way of her plans. Raeb only wanted the dowery that came with his new bride and had no intentions of keeping more than the gold, but when he is drawn to the fiery Englishwoman he is hard pressed to say no. Can they both get what they want and find love on the way? I loved Knight Errant and Knight Defender is no different. If anything I loved it more! This time Allyn takes us to Scotland where the men are strong and sturdy with delicious brogues that will melt you to your toes. Strong females seems to be the theme of Allyn's novels, which in a patriarchal society there is little else you could want for your leading lady. Jessamyn and Raeb (love those names!) butt heads at every turn. They both have secret agendas revolving around Jessamyn's dowry. Jessamyn wants it to be a free woman and Raeb needs it to restore his clan to their former glory. With both of them gunning for the same thing it is no wonder they can't get along. The tension between the two keeps you guessing the entire novel and will keep you turning the pages until the end where you will gush and wonder when you will get your next Rue Allyn fix. I was behind on reading this and am sad that it took me so long. I give it a fantastic 5 bunnies!

Rue Allyn's "Knight Defender" is the third tale in The Knight Chronicles, but you can read it as a standalone. I love, love, love this author, this series, and this book! I don't give many straight 5-star reviews, but this definitely deserves one. It's a rare steamy historical gem. Lady Jessamyn is an amazing leading lady and mmmm Raeb McKai couldn't get any hotter. I thought Robert from #1 would be the hottest in this series, but I was wrong! Raeb all the way! I can't wait to read more by this author!

Allyn takes the age old trope of a marriage of duty and makes it all her own with this enticing tale of love and acceptance. As she brings the past to life for present day readers to enjoy she weaves a fun and exciting tale where love conquers, even when it’s not actually desired. As antagonism turns to chemistry the relationship between the main characters is perpetually evolving. I had a lot of fun getting to know them as they got to know one another. I love how strong they both were. The way that they were constantly at each other’s throats made me laugh as you could see the chemistry beginning to bubble under the surface. This was a fantastic introduction to Allyn’s work for me. I would definitely recommend it to others and will be delving deeper into her work in the future. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.

She must wed for King and country, it is a common duty for a wealthy English Lady, but Jessamyn has no plans to follow through and wed a wild and untamed Scot. Baron Raeb MacKai is struggling to provide for his clan, the people who depend on him, the people he would wed the enemy for, if just to get her much needed dowry. Little do they know he has no intention of marrying the English witch, he plans to make her so miserable that she breaks their betrothal, forfeiting the dowry. The sparks of ire and emotion are flying between these two, and things are looking like they may avoid the dreaded “M” word, but in spite of the lies and the deceits, those sparks may just turn into a raging inferno of love. Knight Defender by Rue Allyn pits one feisty and spirited woman against one powerful and bull-headed man, in a battle that could try the patience of Cupid himself. Ms. Allyn blends a magical potion of humor, tempers, egos, hidden passions and one lie after another and presents us with a wonderful tale of two countries, two hearts and a family of manipulative earthly cupids.
