Editorial Reviews

Library Journal - Library Journal
There is nothing wrong with knitted garment pattern books, but because styles can become dated, it is even more desirable for libraries to have pattern books that also teach new knitting techniques. Here, Wiseman has produced such a book, expanding on some of the techniques she covered in Knitted Shawls, Stoles and Scarves by translating them into more ambitious projects such as sweaters, vests, and coats. The techniques covered include diagonal knitting, slipped and mosaic stitches, interlocking squares and diamonds, and short rows, each of which the reader learns by completing a small tote bag or purse. In addition, 16 patterns are included that feature color close-ups of new techniques, full-page photos of each garment, schematics, step-by-step instructions, and larger print on pages featuring detailed instructions. This book is best suited for intermediate to advanced knitters, although knitting novices can easily complete many of the projects. Highly recommended for all knitting collections.
