Overview

Every avid knitter has faced this dilemma: deep into a project at midnight, just trying to finish one more row, and, then . . . oh no, a dropped stitch three rows back! Help! If only there was a 24-hour hotline to answer every question a knitter might encounter. Well, now there is, with The Knitting Answer Book . The expert authors, Margaret Radcliffe and Edie Eckman, leave no question unanswered, no quandry unaddressed. Each book contains detailed, illustrated answers to literally hundreds of questions, from the common to the more unusual:

• Are certain needles better for certain yarns?
• What if I dropped a stitch several rows back?
• Why do my edges tend to curl up?
• Can you use a different weight yarn than the pattern calls for?
• What can I do to keep my yarns from tangling up?
• Oops, I see my ribbing is way too tight. Now what?

Covering the whole range of situations a beginner is likely to face, along with the problems that may arise for those working more advanced patterns, this Answer Book will help knitters and crocheters of all levels. Each book is packaged in a small, take-along trim size, in a friendly-to-use Q&A format, and belongs in the bag of every knitter. Available 24/7, The Knitting Answer Book is always open, ready for yarn lovers to browse and consult to their heart’s content.

Typically I do not care for the Q&A format in a resource book but this book is excellent. Great resource for beginners and experienced knitters alike! I have given it as a gift to several friends.

This is my absolute Go To book whenever I have a knitting question. I find that everything is explained in the easiest way to understand and it beats all other sources that provide knitting help.

Looking for the best cast on to use with lace? Want to know how to make a buttonhole? Seeking guidance on standard body measurements so you can make a pullover for your sister's two year old daughter -- that will fit? This pocketbook-sized (it's a little too fat for a pocket) is chock full of useful knitting guidance. It's easy to read and contains helpful illustrations - a good stocking stuffer, whether in Nook or hard copy for your favorite knitter.

Really good! Very informative and useful. I learned better ways to do some things that I had been doing for years. It's never far away from my knitting.

Although I am an experienced knitter, I found this book helpful. For example, there are many types of cast-ons for different projects. It will be a great reference book that is small enough to fit in my knit bag to have with me at all times.

I have been a knitter for about 45 years, but I still found some clever tricks and new techniques in this book. Things you always wanted to know but were afraid to ask. I recommend this book for veteran knitters as well as beginners.

Well organized and thorough reference for self-motivated knitters. I'm a beginner and learned a lot about how to think about or visualize my knitting from the diagrams and explanations.

The following books are also good for beginners and for those who need to have a guide to refresh their skills.

Every knitter needs at least one copy of this book. It would be ideal to have one in every knitting bag. There isn't a problem it can't solve.

Great for both beginners and advanced knitters. Answers all sorts of questions and clearly too, from how to read your knitting to several different castons and their uses (which is best for what). I love answers that tell you that all techniques are useful and when they are most useful.

The best! This is the book that lives in my knitting bag. I've used it a hundred times, for dozens of different questions. The "must have" knitting book!

Small enough to carry in your knitting bag and valuable enough to do so.
knittingpanda87 on LibraryThing More than 1 year ago
This book really does have an answer to almost any knitting question you can come up with just as the front of the book says. I have used it numerous times to fix my knitting when I have come across a problem. It also comes in handy when you are trying to figure out what kind of cast on to use for a certain project.

Excellent guide for all knitters. Small so it fits in one's knitting bag. My only complaint is the index is not comprehensive; however, it's fairly easy to find what one is looking for through the table of contents. I've learned a lot from this little book.

This book is AWESOME! I love it and I carry it around in my knitting bag everywhere. It has everything from how to cast on, to different types of stitches, generic measurements, etc. Everything to know!

Great book. Answers all sorts of little pesky questions that I was always bugging the owner of my LYS about.

I bought this book some time ago and love it! It's always in my knitting bag. I highly recommend it to all of my knitting friends. I emailed Ms. Radcliffe asking if it was available in other languages, she answered me right away and was very helpful. This book really will answer your knitting questions.

I like this book, but it seems to only have half of the book. Where is the rest. I tried to look up a stitch that was in in index but how you do it the page was not there. Very disappointed.

Not helpful at all.  Have had to return to the web each time I attempted to use it Because it either didn't have the information or it was so confusing to read I couldn't figure out what I was reading
