It would be easier to substitute yarn if we knew exactly what we were substituting for. Descriptions of the yarn type are not quite enough for me. Give me a picture of a strand of yarn at least!
I absolutely love the the books and the show! I record and rewatch the episodes extremely often. The patterns are fun and trendy. Which is exactly what I love since I don't have the time to do an extremely complicated piece. It's tons of fun to anyone who's looking for a great book of knitting patterns.
Someone gave this book to me, and just like the show, the patterns are awful. It amazes me that this show, with funding from the DIY network, consistently comes up with the most gag-awful patterns and projects. If you're looking for a beginning knitting book, stick with Stitch'n'bitch-- THE ORIGINAL. SNB Nation went off into la la land also. I will be truly happy when publishers start giving us books with stylish patterns, rather than assuming we're all a bunch of rasta pom-pom lovers (what the heck is up with the eyelash yarn? Puke!)
