Knox is the first book in the new Susan May Warren series and it kicks off things with a bang. One of the things Warren does so well is create characters that you fall in love with right from the start. And she’d done again with the Marshall clan. We were first introduced to the Marshall’s in Burnin’ For You, which featured the oldest Marshall sibling Reuben. Knox is the second oldest and the one who’s been left in charge of running the ranch while his other siblings pursue their dreams. When Knox meets Kelsey Jones, lead singer for the Yankee Belles, a nice romance ensues along with a mystery. Knox and Kelsey’s mystery is resolved, but another mystery is introduced to whet your appetite for the next book in the series. It is my understanding there will be books for Tate, Ford, Wyatt, and Ruby Jane before this series concludes. Also, you’ll see a few characters from other Susan May Warren books pop up. I liked that since it was like catching up with old friends. Knox is romantic suspense at its finest.

Be still my heart! I was thrilled to find out that the author is writing a series about the Marshall family- Rueben, the oldest brother, was my favorite smokejumper in the Montana Fire series, and the brief glimpse we see of his family when they are reunited at the end of Burnin' for You provided the perfect lead-in to more stories. I loved reading Knox's perspective and understanding his feelings about being responsible for the ranch while his siblings went on to lead exciting lives. He feels nice, safe, and old, but when Kelsey comes into his life with all her trauma and vulnerability, he is exactly what she needs, and he feels good about that. It was interesting to see the dichotomy in Kelsey's persona- the vibrant country singer who can hold a crowd in the palm of her hand, and the frightened victim who is just trying to hold it together for one more day. She drew out the hero in Knox, and he helped her feel protected and cherished for who she really is. They had great chemistry and the author did a fantastic job of showing them falling in love amid the turmoil in their lives. I loved the peace of the ranch and the way it calmed Kelsey, allowing her to realize the Lord's hand at work in her life. The pace is steady and quickens with each element of danger the characters face. Part of the story is shown from the perspective of Tate and Glo, and I'm excited for their story and the continuation of the suspenseful plot! All five books in the series are being released this year and I appreciate that we won't have long to wait between each book! (I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own)

Susan May Warren is back with a new series, and it’s off to an explosive start with Knox! This book has everything I love about her writing: a big family saga, top-notch suspense, epic adventure, compelling characters, and beautiful spiritual truths. Now I want to move to Montana and be part of the Marshall family! Knox starts off with a bang – literally! The danger from Kelsey’s past seems to be catching up to her, and when Knox gets involved, he makes it his mission to keep her safe. Throughout the book, they each have to deal with their own fears. Kelsey is afraid of the trauma in her past coming back to haunt her, and she’s not sure she can trust God with her future. Knox wants to be the one people can count on to show up, the one who holds his father’s legacy together. He doesn’t want to let his family down, and he’s a little afraid of what might happen if he went after a new dream and left the safety of the ranch. One thing that sets Susan May Warren’s writing apart for me is the way she writes her characters. I feel like I’m inside their hearts and minds, and like I really understand them. Their struggles, their hard questions, and their faith all ring true. I can connect with and relate to them, no matter how different their lives are from mine. That is definitely true with the characters in Knox! The characters and the plot are have just enough complexity and detail to keep you engaged in the story without getting bogged down or lost. Expertly woven sub-plots and hints of the series arc add depth to this story and build anticipation for the rest of the series. Overall, I loved Knox! It’s a well-written, engaging story, and a must-read for anyone who enjoys suspense or romance. It’s a great start to the new series, and I can’t wait for the next four books! I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a review. All opinions are my own; I was not required to write a positive review.

Knox is Ms. Warren’s latest book that is the first in the Marshall series. This series of books will focus on one family (the Marshalls). This first book is an incredible start to this series! Knox is one of the siblings to Reuben (who readers meet in her previous books). He is the dutiful, faithful brother who takes care of everyone at home while his siblings are off living their own lives. Knox and Kelsey meet and then are thrown together when the arena is damaged. Kelsey has ghosts from her past that she struggles to deal with. She also has someone she thinks is after her. Can Knox and Kelsey figure out what is going on? This romantic suspense novel will keep you up until you get to the very end! You will eagerly be wanting to read the next book in this series, Tate. In this book, you will get a glimpse into all of the Marshall siblings’ lives. I highly recommend this book! If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will love this book! ***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the author for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.

"She was the adventure he'd longed for. And he might be boring, and nice, but she made him feel like the safe, dependable guy was the hero after all." Oh my goodness. What an incredible, high-octane, soul-searching start to The Montana Marshalls series! This book is classic Susan May Warren - fun and easy-to-follow writing style with delicious dialogue, a great plot with twists and turns, a nice dose of suspense that keeps you turning the pages, a cast of characters you will fall in love with who embodies intense emotions and hurts and spiritual revelations, and, of course, heart-stuttering romance. Fans of Susan May Warren will be satisfied. Those who've never read Susan May Warren will become fans quickly after reading this book. Set in beautiful present-day Montana, we meet the Marshall family as the story unfolds to reveal Knox and Tate. Knox is the second oldest in the family of six and he's the only one who stayed on the family ranch to continue the legacy. He's noble, loyal, protective, tender, and smart though suffers from inferiority complex when he compares himself to his siblings. Kelsey is a rising country singer who has a dark and painful past; she tries to stuff down her vulnerable, tender, loving heart by being on stage and making her career her one and only goal in life. Her best friend and fellow band member Glo and Knox's younger brother Tate, who is hired as their bodyguard, bring Kelsey and Knox together in a whirlwind of rodeos, country music concerts, and danger trailing their every step. The author has a way of pulling you right into the heart of the story from page one and not letting go until the entire series is finished. I'm so looking forward to Tate's story, as well as the other four siblings' stories! I was given a copy of the book from the author and SDG Publishing and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
