Some people say that the best rock album of the 1990s was either Nirvana ''Nevermind'', Pearl Jam ''Ten'' or Soundgarden's debut. But I'm here to say that the best album of the 90s was Korn's 1994 Self titled debut. From the rage filled melodies of ''Blind'' To The Playful rythms of ''Shoots and Ladders'' to the very painful finale of ''Daddy'', Korn delivers a knockout combonation of 12 songs. Jonathan Davis is somewhat of a twisted crooner, as in some songs he plays the part of a desperate teenager, while in the rest of the songs, he shows his tormented, angry side. Head and Munky innovated guitar playing in this album, as the two showed they could play straight metal music, as well as mellow, kinder to the ears music. Fieldy is one of the great bass players of all time, as he takes the term ''low tuning'' to new heights. The drummer David, his loud and steady, yet crushingly good drum melodies anchor this band. There is not one bad track on this entire album, so it is definetly a must buy for the rock fan. This band etched themselves into music immortality with this album. And their three predecessors follow, as the band goes on to reinvent theirselves. So go get this album NOW!!!!

I am a huge KoRn's fan and i like all of their albums, especially this one, cause its the hardest and darkest of KoRn albums!!! I like KoRn so much cause they are different from the other stupid metal bands, they have created their own original style and there will never be another band as good as KoRn and a cool singer as JD!!! His lyrics are very special to me and i think that he is the greatist singer on eart, also cool guitars, cool basguitarist and what i can say - u need to have this album in your cd collection!!!

Korn is one of the most successful bands of the 90's. Korn pretty much invented the "nu-metal" style of rock - soon, everyone was using downtuned, seven string guitars and ultra distorted bass. The magic of Korn, however, lies in their lack of creativity and musical genius. The ultra-loud 3 note riffs of unsophisticated guitarists "Head" and "Munky" prove that bigger is better! Vocalist Jonothan Davis screams, whines, and roars through blustering, blundering songs about drugs, sex, and teen angst. People tell me that the bassist is talented, but so far it is tuned down so low that I can't even hear the bass! Davis' crude, obscene, and offensive lyrics sound like they were written by a mentally challenged ape. One of the worst albums of all time. If you want some good nu-metal, check out System Of A Down.

This Korn's first and best album. Almost every song on this album is good and it presents Jonathon Davis' maniacal and brilliant voice which sings and screams through each track. The best out of the album is "Blind", "Clown", "Faget" and "Shoots and Ladders" which is like a sing along to old children's songs that have a dark, deeper meaning. One of the most emotional songs on this track is of course "Daddy", which Jonathon pours out his emotional hatred toward his past of sexual abuse. An excellent album, every metal fan should own this one.

This is a great album. My personal favorates are Blind and Shoots and ladders. Jonathan's at his best. I love the way he lets everything go when he sings. He can take all the anger, pain and trorment and put it all into song

Korn is one of the strongest debut albums I've heard in a long time, along with Evanescence's Fallen. The utter raw purity in tracks like Daddy, Clown, and Faget are enough to blow your mind. Some say Johnathan curses too much. He has a reason to. There's a heart to the songs where no matter how vulgar it gets, you know there's a reason behind it, and that this is not just shock rock.

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard this CD. It has been a long time since I last heard an album that just rules. I didn't even hear this CD until the year 2000. I had bought Follow the Leader and Life IS Peachy and I always thought that Korn was just another band but when I heard their first album I fell down and went boom boom. This album is one of the best in the world.

...this is so good album. It is really angry. Especially "Faget", "Clown" and "Need to" seem to flow wrath. The vocals are excellent. This is a rock album that will make history. The riffs are so powerful!

This is the only album worth even listening to, let alone buying, by Korn. Enriched with emotion and original music, it is sure to get you off your seat. Definetly one of my all time favorite cd's. BUT STAY AWAY FROM ANY OTHER KORN ALBUM. The rest really hurt.

This cd is the beginning of the reign of the greatest hard rock band of the 90s. Self- titled, it shows us the development of KoRn to what it is today. Displaying a mellow yet sharp mood and a mixed emotion, of anger, sadness and humiliation. Ball Tongue, Need To, Blind, and Faget are tracks that clearly symbolize the melody that KoRn withholds. Tracks like Shoots and Ladders and Daddy clearly show the life that vocalist Jonathan Davis lived through and conveys. From the emotional bagpipes and slow guitars in Shoots and Ladders to the ventiliation of sound BallTongue, where Jonathan uses few words and the players little remorse; from Daddy, a haunting and surreal song of childhood to Faget, a factual song of his discrimination by life around him. This is a truly astounding cd and I recommmend it for any music listener, as it holds so much truth and emotion that it should not be missed.

And to think that I thought "Untouchables" was Korn's best album (not that it's not a great CD, however)...I lied. THIS is their first disk...their underground effort...their early years...their best album. Every song is great. "Daddy" is a disturbing song that makes me glad my father's not the way John Davis's was, "Faget" reminds me of my Elementary and Middle School years, "Ball Tongue" makes me grateful that I have friends and family, and "Blind" is just a plain cool song. Buy it...I recommend this even over "Untouchables".

Korn is absolutely great and that review about Jonathan Davis's lyrics being written by a mentally challenged ape and the crappy bass is way off. Jonathan Davis has explicit lyrics because he pours his heart out. He went through some messed up stuff and he sings about it. You should buy this its great

THERE ONE OF MY FAVORITE BAND BESIDES NINE INCH NAILS AND NIRVANA.

Jonathan Davis is rough, tough and blunt. He says what he feels and doesn't care who hears it. He's expressive and creative, with a lot of rage behind it.

The self titled cd from the truly awesome KoRn will take you on a horrific, beautiful, and ragingly emotional journey into the life of Jonathan's disturbed and twisted mind. With and hard tracks like Blind, Ball Tongue and Clown, KoRn clearlyestablishes a a talented and rythmic vibe that IS IMPOSSIBLE to ignore once it starts rolling. However, pulsing sound is not all there is. With the tracks Shoots and Ladders, Faget and Daddy, the horrific and haunting surreality of Jonathans mind is unleashed, exposing you to haunting and disgustinhg truth; with Daddy, we leave Jon screaming his pain and agony onto the floor while David, Munky, Head and Fieldy play on. Truly amazing.

This is the best album KoRn has put out. the band has so much talent and it all shows on this album. Every song is great and not one is better than another on the album. Every song has a special meaning in its own way. KoRn means a lot to me and I am huge fan. They touch me, and I think Jon has the most beautiful voice in the whole world. The way he sings makes KoRn different, in a category all by themselves. If you want a to buy a KoRn album, buy this one first!
