About the Author

Cantor Mitch is a lover of great food and great music. He lives to entertain, and his life is a recipe of spirituality, music, friends, family, and tantalizing feasts that he shares with the world. Mitch has studied classical instruments, opera, and composition, and learned from his mother how to appreciate every dish set upon the table. A self-taught chef, he has done everything from working in kitchens to taking to the road with a singing telegram company. Mitch eventually found his way to the synagogue, and after 25 years in the Cantorate, he is taking on a new challenge as the Singing Chef.

Society today has become health conscious. It’s a good thing! People live longer and healthier lives. Eating better foods is one of the ways many people have improved their quality of life. Keeping kosher, once thought of as full of unhealthy fats and oils, has now become one of the healthiest diets around. Kosher staples like parve margarine and olive oil are among the healthiest fats. I like working with parve margarine for its buttery taste and texture. I like working with olive oil for its unique flavor. Whether you keep kosher or not, you can benefit from eating healthy.

Have fun, pick up a knife, and start chopping! There are delightful smells coming from the kitchens of this new generation!

Music and Song Pairings

This is not your typical cookbook. It contains recipes, stories, helpful serving suggestions, and as an added bonus song pairings and music! I have paired songs with dishes that match in character and flavor. When you are preparing food you can put on a song that will lead to inspiration! This may be kosher cuisine, but it’s not Cantor Mitch the Singing Chef without some singing! So while you are reading through or making a meal put on some great music! As one of my favorite lines from Psalm 149:1 says, “Halleluiah! Shiru L’ Adoni Shir Hadash” “Halleluiah! Sing a new song to Adoni.”
