With a little hesitation, I pick up chick lit because I have to be in the mood for light and fluffy. Although this quintessential chick lit, it had heart and soul that made it more than just a girlie read. A story centered around a girl who makes the decision to "follow" or rather move to a new city - L.A., where her long-term fiance is said to follow. Will he ever move and will they ever get married? The ultimate questions. As a girl who has decided to move with a boy, it takes some courage, guts and many conversations to confirm that this is the best decision both for yourself and the both of you as a couple. Not recommended for everyone, but if done right, it can build a solid foundation. Off the soap box - I loved this book, even if I had to read it in mass market form!

Sarah is the main character and everything is based on her life & party-going friends, after moving from fairfield, CA. Her life gets interesting & somehow turns into a dramatic situation where she believe's she doesn't want to live. Her ex-fiance Benjamin tries to destroy her reputation, he isn't the guy you thought he would turn out to be. Her l.a friends are behind her as she enjoys life, this book is about relationship, friends, L.A. and drama. Thanks to her dear friend Martika.

Being an LA native I laughed at the point of view of Hollywood and LA in general. This was a wonderful read and I loved how it concluded! Must read!

I am currently in the middle of this novel and let me tell you how I cannot put it down because the characters are funny and the story is just very laid back (in a good way). I highly recommend this book to anyone who would like to curl up on the sofa and just have a few laughs.

This book is so different from any other book I've read! There are so many emotions, ups and downs, that you share with Sarah and Martika and all the other characters. I never wanted to put it down! The twists and turns in the plot add to the excitement and make this book an excellent choice as an easy read. In some parts you laugh out loud, while others you just are angry at the characters' actions or words. It describes L.A. life like it really is, especially about the night clubs and bars. It also proves that you don't need a man to survive in a big city! If you enjoy easy reading and romantic books, this would definitely be a good choice for you!

This book was really absorbing and entertaining from the beginning and continues to keep ones interest throughout. Sarah seems to be so set on her ways it takes her a while to actually live to 'seize the day' and when that happens watch out. She goes through so many changes in her attitude and lifestyle it almost makes you feel sorry for her misfortune but the ending is far worth it. Her two best friends are hilarious and the ending is marvelous. You'll enjoy this book like no other and after reading it you'll wonder where the time went.

This book was intended for a friend's birthday present, but ever since I picked it up, I could not put it down. I wanted to find out more about Sarah Walker and her vivacious roomate, Martika. We all need somone like her in our lives. This book is a adventurous, sexy and witty read for any girl ready to break out of her shell.

When her fiancé of four years gets transferred from a small northern California town to Los Angeles, Sarah Walker quits her job and moves there to make the move easier for Benjamin. Unfortunately for Sarah, the transfer is delayed, forcing Sarah to find a job that will pay the rent.

A couple of months later, Benjamin informs Sarah that his transfer is imminent but he prefers to have a separate apartment. Angry and hurt, Sarah breaks it off with him and gets herself a new roommate to cut down of expenses. Martika takes Sarah under her wing, introducing her to the L.A. party scene. Sarah goes through quite a few men and jobs before deciding what is the best road for her to travel.

L.A. WOMAN is a breezy, light read that is a perfect book to take to the beach. There are many humorous scenes in the story line as the heroine tries to get her act together but the spotlight really shines on the supporting cast. The secondary ensemble are so stereotypical, they are amusingly believable. Cathy Yardley captures the party scene in L.A. to perfection and shows the dark side underneath the glitter and glamour.
