This book is tremendous, I just couldn't put it down. It gives a narrative overview of the history of L'Abri from Edith's perspective. This is a wonderful book for those who wish to find out more about the work of L'Abri.Particuarly touching was the interesting accounts of the power of prayer.
Well-written book by Edith Schaeffer, wife of the theologian, Francis Schaeffer. Missionaries to Switzerland, the Schaeffers were among the few who have relied solely upon the power of prayer to supply all needs. This is the story of the Schaeffer's founding of a home in the Swiss Alps where people from around the world could come to stay while they searched for the truth. An interesting experiment which proved very successful and was very influential in developing intellectully acute Christian leaders.
This book will give renewed strength for any believer and cause the unbeliever to think hard. You can see all of the ways that this family entered into troubled times and trusted God. God always provided for them in all ways. Whether you need a new perspective, want a faith booster, or just love to hear how the Lord "works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28), this book is an amazing testament to the love of God.
This book is a real life story of two people who sought God's will in their lives. It is an exciting an inspirational read and will make you want to follow their example. It goes perfectly with the workbook, 'Experiencing God' by Henry Blackaby and Claude King, as a practical application of their principles (applied 30 years before their workbooks). It also outlines basic principles of 'Christianity is Jewish' by the same author.
