Cesca is a vampire princess working for a ghost tour in St. Augustine's historical square. The story is awesome! Everything is historically correct, since the author lives in St. Augustine. The plot is interesting and dark with highlights of comedy. Cesca creates a sense of reality and normality as she is working for her degree online as well as working with the ghost tour. Then is gets dirty when a murder drags in Cesca. The description is great, doesn't jump around and confuse you and not dry or scarce. The characters are all very round, no matter how little the part they are defined. Romance is in the air with the hunky detective watching Cesca's back when things get sticky. This book is just an all around great book to read whenever you feel like reading a good vamp story or a good mystery, and anything with a touch of romance and vamps!

Nancy Haddock has written a wonderful debut! This book had everything! It was romantic, sexy and full of action!Cesca Martinelli was trapped underground for 200 years but has now been discovered by her closest friend, Maggie. But now that vampires have been changed to a protected species, she finds that times have changed, plus she has to run around with a tracker chip in her arm. But now someone in town seems to want to see her dead. And it's up to her to figure out who that is before something terrible happens.Cesca started doing ghost tours for a local company and finds that the same people want to be at her tours, probably because she's a vampire, but then one of them turns up dead. And there is a creepy guy running around trying to scare her, but with the help of an ex-slayer Deke Saber they will soon discover that this murder has a lot more twists and turns than they anticipated! This book hooked me from the very first page. You have a vampire who is the most human vampire you'll ever meet and she surfs! Who woulda thought! LOL This book certainly is one of finest debuts that I have ever had the pleasure to read!So what do you gotta say to that?

Anita lite. I'm tired of these variations on vampire books, they feel like the author saw an oppurtunity in the market place and wrote to order, rather than had a story grow inside them that needed to be told...

After 200 years of being trapped in a box, Francesca Marnelli, has been set free. All she wants to do is have a normal life. She loves to read mystery's and watch old movies. She not a bad surfer either. Her favorite place to shop is Walmart. Oh, Cesca is a vampire. She gets her first job as a tour guide for a ghost town. Her first night on the job she has an interesting mix of tourist show up. There is the french couple who are on their honeymoon, a man that acts like Gomer Pyle, several older ladies that carry guns, and a man that she names Stony.Although she has a few problems the first night, not much happens until a couple days later when one of the tourist shows up dead with fang marks on them. Of course the first person to become a suspect is Cesca. On top of having to prove she didn't kill anyone she has to avoid "The Covenant", a group of radicals who don't care much for vampires. This is a debut novel for this author. Enjoyable read.

When vampire Francesca Marinelli is unearthed after 200 years, she is not about to let the grass grow under her feet. She is ready to live a modern afterlife. She is into TV, surfing and furniture. She also has a job as a tour guide on a local historic ghost tour, who better than one of St. Augustine's earliest residents. But when a frequent tour attendee ends up dead, Cesca finds herself under the spotlight, a place no vampire wants to be.I liked this book. Cesca is a very likeable character and the story is pretty interesting. The main mystery is finished off handily but another story about an old love is just getting started. I already have the next one ready to check out of the library.

I did not get past the first couple of chapters in this book. It did not hold my interest, and I had no incentive in wanting to finish out the story. Sorry, just not my cup of tea.

Ok- when reading a book such as this, the reader is required to suspend belief. This doesn't work if the characters are cardboard, or the world is so badly written that you are always questioning it. In this book its the characters. The book feels like it was fan fiction, and the fan is writing from a script, without the deeper understanding of a characters motivation.Francesca is a 2 hundred year vampire who was recently unearthed. She likes shopping at Walmart, surfing, and drools over hot men. Unfortunately, Francesca should have a few moral hangovers about modern society, a hard time adjusting to modern conveniences, and have a slightly different vocabulary than my 13 year old cousin. But, the world is quite interesting - its a world with vampires, ghosts, and the were creatures are now extinct. With a little bit more darkness and characters that fit with their background, it could be a very good series.

I'm so glad I found this book. I just happened upon it by accident in the library and shortly after purchased it through my nook. It's an exciting series that gives a new twist on vampires and I loved the shapeshifter and magick elements, too. I'm a huge fan of urban fantasy and although I don't know if this fits that genre, I recommend it to other urban fantasy lovers as well as anyone who loves reading vampire novels.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It made a very long Amtrak ride not excruciating. I eventually purchased the other books in this series and enjoyed them as well.

Cesca is refreshing! Mrs. Haddock really brings a new light to the vampire genre allowing the reader to be drawn in slowly so you feel as a part of the story. Cesca was punished over 200 years ago at least that's what was thought by the King... Read a great adventure with humor throughout it.

La Vida Vampire is the story of Cesca, an old vampire that was buried under a house and just found. She tries her hardest to live a normal life around humans, much to most vampire hunter's chagrin. She shops at WalMart, takes online design classes and even does the local ghost tours (for a tour company of course). When a dead body appears, during her surfing lesson, everything that is stable and normal about Cesca's life is turned upside down. She is worried about her life, the lives of her friends, and tries her hardest to solve the mystery of who the killer is (before she becomes the next victim). I can't wait to sink my teeth into the next book!

I love La Vida. How do you not love a vampire who doesn't like the taste of blood? This book I would put on the charming list. Even though there is a mystery to solve it still makes you feel good because the main charaters just want a normal life.
