Sam LaCour hasn't given up on men, even if they've given up on her, and she doesn't give up on her colleagues either, even when a dead body turns up, and she faints in front of the cameras, her family, and a television audience.
Robert Downs aspired to be a writer before he realized how difficult the writing process was. Fortunately, he'd already fallen in love with the craft, otherwise Sam and Casey might never have seen print. Originally from West Virginia, he has lived in Virginia, Massachusetts, New Mexico, and now resides in California.

When he's not writing, Robert can be found reviewing, blogging, or smiling. Falling Immortality and Graceful Immortality helped him discover his true love: hard-boiled mysteries. This is his third novel.

Book exchanged for an honest review~ Samantha "Sam" LaCour is a forensic accountant with an overactive curious streak. When her boss Copper Strut asks her to investigate their biggest client Grate Marketing. Little did she know what a curious trail she'd follow to reach the truth. Just like Alice, Sam can't seem to help herself. Sam has the worst luck with men. Yet her family doesn't understand why she doesn't pursue the opposite sex more than she does. Her family understand her reluctance in dealing with the opposite sex when she'd much rather solve a mystery of numbers instead. Officer Ben Xander tries to steer Sam in a different direction that doesn't last too long much to his dismay. What will Sam learn during her investigation? Or will Sam's curiosity lead her astray? Your answers await you in LaCour's Destiny. This new to me author presented an intriguing mystery with all the classic elements mysteries are known for. The characters and story were honest, real, gritty, raw, compelling, and down to earth too. I would definitely consider reading this author again in the future.
